    One word "liability".

Big companies would rather risk losing your $10,000 in lifetime purchases than risk an immediate fine or a costly news story.

    It is what it is.

A tall man in his 40's. Never once was he rude and I don't blame him at all ( I blame the system )he was obeying the law as he saw it. I did tell him right from the git go that it was for my wife. He told me that because I asked about it and showed the most interest that he thought it was for me and that he could not sell it to my wife.
I guess it didn't help that we were all dirty and covered with paint( painting our cabin).

The only reason why we went there was cause my mom had gotten her hunting certification class done on saturday and we were looking a semiauto 20 ga.

Sorry to hear about your experience at Dick's. Like the other members have suggested, take your money and find a nice Mom 'n Pop gun store. The clerks will be much better informed (I hope). It's hard to assume anything now days. Your mom's going to buy a 20 gauge? Very cool.

It's there a point when you ask for there is number then the corporate phone # and just make the call in front of them. I had a customer do this to me after refusing to pay for the work she had signed a estimate. Then when I had to remove parts cuz she wouldn't pay she starts calling my corporation and they call my cell while I was in front of my customer while she was complaining about me. Not fun but I might give it a shot next time I have an issue with customer service. BTW I did get paid

I think they're gonna lose more than 10k x 50 just from first cousins and friends alone who hunt. One generation up two down and its gonna be in the thousands with friends and family who hunt, fish, camp, do sports stuff.

when we bought our first M&P, from Turners a few months ago, I was there with my son, putting it in his name...they didn't give a crap...I even told them why, because of the possible non transfer situation to family members down the road

it would be stupid for me to buy one, then, if the law passes, a few years down the road the rifle can't be handed down...the clerk at Turners even agreed with me...so, I handled almost the entire transaction, even paid with MY money, my son went there for the paper process, nobody cared

I guess you could construe that as a "straw purchase"...personally I don't give a rats ***, they are the ones forcing this decision, not me...so, I put it in HIS name, but, we go out shooting together, both using it...what's the big deal? Of course, the people at Turners know me well, I've bought several guns, and, lots of accessories from them over the years, so I'm sure that helped, they know i'm not a prohibited person, but, if you go by the letter of the law, how is that different?
