I went with my mom, dad, and brother to look for a shotgun for my mom. So they're at the gun counter and I'm looking for a service rep. I see some guy helping out some other folks in the archery room after he's done he comes out. I flagged him down and asked if he worked there, he's wearing some rocknroll style shirt with "I'm redneck" on it shirt. I think to myself alright right on he must like guns and Pro2A if he's a self proclaimed redneck. So we get to the counter and he ask who's buying the gun and I tell him my mom is. He then turns to my mom and asks her for her ID she hands it over, then asks for mine and I hand it over with the remark "What you think this is a straw purchase or something". This has been the first time I've been asked for ID, and I've been to every single local gun shop, big5, and sports authority in town. Must be new policy.
So my dad and me point out which shotgun to take out of the counter compare weights and hand it off to my mom and ask what she thinks. While this is going on the guy keeps talking to his hands free set and repeated keeps asking someone needs to come over and he needs to go somewhere. So we hand over the shotgun, he didn't ask if we wanted to look at more shotguns, takes off. I'm looking around to see where he just had to go. Apparently to help another customer instead of the one in front of him. I'm thinking to myself wtf, really, and I'm dogging and eyeballing him. He sees me doing it too.
So there's 2nd rep at the counter helping out another customer. After they get done, I flag the 2nd guy down. He actually looks like he works there, he helps us. And I take off to look at the bows. I come back and there's a third guy, the supervisor looking type comes over and asks who's buying the gun, I tell him my mom is. Then supervisor looking guy asks me if I'm buying it, I tell him no I'm not the one buying it. Then he tells me well since I'm not buying it, and because I was the one asking all the questions and answering back he can't sell the shotgun to my mom. I tell him "What kind of f#$ked up policy is that".
The first guy comes back and says since I was answering all his questions in stead of letting my mom answer them. He couldn't sell it to my mom. I tell them I was doing that because I was translating for my mom. He then says I should had asked him if I could be the translator first before doing that. Because you know I needed his permission right? He goes on and says well I said something about a straw purchase earlier and obviously I knew what a straw purchase is, so he was not gonna make the sale. I'm thinking to myself really ****ing ***hole, I have a FFL03, I have armory at home, a straw purchase is really on my high list of stuff to do. I'm going to call corporate tomorrow and see what their policies are. I'll post their response here.
