OP, that looks awesome! Tagged for further progress. I've been contemplating secret gun storage myself but on a smaller scale like bookshelves etc. Kinda like the Q Line Design furniture but not so ridiculously expensive.Comment

I had our cabinet designer built secure storage in a few pieces of furniture be built. Allows me to have secured handgun storage yet easy access in main rooms of the house if needed.Just a normal guyComment

Excellent plan. If anyone ever did find your stash, they'd probably be too drunk to carry anything out of the house..
Very cool idea, love it! Looking forward to seeing more progress.

just the drywall itself acts as a fire retardant. you could double up on the drywall to add to it, or they do sell fire-rated drywall that doubles the retardant time from something like 30 minutes for 1/2" to an hour.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Very nice! I want to build a safe room when I move to Oregon.
Out of curiosity what climate are you supposed to keep wine in? I obviously know nothing about it as I'm a tequila drinker and it wouldn't last long enough to make a store room lol. Just curious if it needs moisture or a cool place where as the guns need a dry place.Originally posted by ar15barrelsSo you are throwing out 95% of reality to select the 5% of reality where you are actually right?

Moisture no, cool yes. 50-55 is ideal but ours is never that low. It can keep the room 40* but we usually have it set to 65*Very nice! I want to build a safe room when I move to Oregon.

That's really slick!!!!! Too bad the room is so small, it would be an outstanding man cave!
Sounds like you did quite a bit of research and are doing things right.
Keep a real close eye out for rodent droppings down there. A newer home depending on the ventilation, could be rodent free. Older homes, all basements have rat droppings.
I saw one house I worked in that had a small unfinished basement for a furnace and some storage- they put in several large electric wine coolers down there. But the rat droppings everywhere just disgusted me....
Mr electric, wine should be stored dry and cool. Not humid like cigars. If it's good for wine, it's fine for guns.
I had mag locks in some of my jobs for high security doors... They're pretty serious hardware.Comment
