I'm still friends with a guy I met in junior high. Somewhere along the way he went full on left-wing, democrat, tree-hugging, anti-military, anti-America, most importantly ANTI-GUN, and I went the complete opposite.

Fast forward to now, he makes a lot of money but says he can't find a house in a "good" part of Anaheim/LA. So get this, he tells me that he'll charge me super-low rent in his house if I move up there and provide protection using my "experience" with guns. I told him that I would be more than happy to share what little gun knowledge I have so that he could learn to defend himself, but in not so many words he doesn't want to get his hands dirty.

So just like every other holier-than-though, anti-gun, Obama card carrying snob, he can tell us how we're all mucking up the planet with our neanderthal ways and our evil guns, but when it comes time for protection they have the nerve to call on us? How does someone live with that stark, illogical level of hypocrisy in their heads without exploding?

I think Danny said it best:

What issue? Without a LTC he wouldn't be able to carry there.

If you brought a gun to work and shot some one you would go to prison and we all would see you on the news.

Well, I think the OP saying - since it's work and boss is giving permission... legally he can carry on premises. Home and work place legal (according to the link OP provided).

And what I was saying, is if they walk off premises (in a public area) and then the perp tries to harm them, and he decides to defend himself with his handgun, that may become an issue? Sounds like a grey area...

People who are not ready (in the mind), not trained, not "gun people" shouldn't carry. If they are afraid for thier lives they should "get ready". In the mean time allowing people to protect them I guess is ok.

It's funny though, these people think guns are so bad and evil, till it's thier *** on the line.

She should install very obvious security cameras and an alarm for starters.

If an employee who only worked there 3 months is still coming after her, that person has serious issues, I'm surprised that the police didn't go to the guys house after OP's boss made a police report, since she KNOWS who's making the threats. It's not anonymous. Have the cops show up and say "Hey, we know you and your friends have been making threatening phone calls to Miss X. If anything happens, you're the first person we're talking to".

To be honest, I would be very hard pressed to fire a gun to protect company property. People, yes OK, if there was a real threat, but if they are just breaking windows and stuff, I wouldn't even think about it.

The cops will be hauling YOUR butt off to jail, not your boss'.

I'd almost say to the boss "Look, you have to deal with this right now, we can't work in this environment".

Also, tell her to buy some pepper spray.

tell her she'll sleep better at night knowing someone is there who has her back

she'll never see it or know if you have it or not

just tell her she'll sleep better and let her think on it

Out of curiousity, what kind of business? It is nothing like a post office or court house where you cannot have a gun right? Slowly coax her into going to the range, and introduce her slowly with maybe a 22 or something.

Her big mistake was contacting the insurance company, now that is on record.

This is how you have a handgun at the office...
(btw, this is also an actual situation/)

The office I work at is close to one of the chain of firing ranges I have a membership to, since traffic sucks I sometimes go to the range for an hour after work until traffic dies down. My boss knows this and we discussed that a few cars have been broken into over the years, so I stow my range bag in a locked cabinet in my office during the day as a matter of theft prevention.

I feel bad about the guys that have to worry about shipping gun parts to their work. I have stuff arriving every other day and my boss wants to see how they work and what they look like and he's not even a shooter.

No grey area. Possessing a loaded gun in a public place is against the letter of the law without LTC. If it was legally stored in my range bag locked and unloaded, the chances of me getting it out in time to use it once confronted would be zip, unless the situation was such that no gun was warranted.

She has 2 alarms (silent, burglar) and cant afford right now to pay for a camera system. She has pepper spray. The problem is that we know the employee who was fired, but not who made the threats. Of course I wouldn't shoot someone just because they were breaking windows; if they were brandishing weapons however, and I had an open shot, I would take it.
