You mean for hunting pigs?
Or...people who own AR's are fat, bald headed, ugly, and resemble pigs? oink oink. -
Hunting pigs? NoComment

Nope.
Waste of ammunition. Ideally, one shot, one kill. Shooting a pig with a .223 is borderline cruel. Granted, this one was fairly large, but you get the idea.Comment

NO Have more respect for the animal you are hunting. Yes a 22 will kill one given a ideal shot but hunting does not always offer an ideal shot and most people will not pass on a shot if it is less than ideal. BTW This also holds true for a 243/6mm cartridge. Whatever cartridge you choose use a quality well constructed bullet.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

In that video I posted, I think he missed first shot, incapacitated the animal with the second, missed the third shot, then shot the animal 4 more times at close range in the cranium. The animal suffered needlessly, and was still alive, and still suffering at the close of the video. The shooter was clearly confused that the animal was still alive.
The name of that video should be changed to, "I maimed an animal with an AR-15."
On a side note, while he effectively incapacitated the animal with the first hit in this instance, there's nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal, or human for that matter. As noted above, make sure the cartridge is appropriate for the intended purpose.Comment

It depends:
To quote SkyPup:
YMMV.Well, for one thing I am not just out there blasting hogs.
I only take calculated shots that I know are fatal when placed properly in their vitals and I aim to minimized meat damage.
So far, I have shot 27 hogs up to 500 pounds at ranges out to 175 yards (most 75-125 yards) using the Hornday 75 grain or Privi 75 grain bullets, none have moved more than 50 feet from POI and none have required a second shot. One shot even immediately killed a 175 pound porker and then killed another 75 pound piglet after it went throw the first hogs lungs and hit the second hog in the head - both dead.
Ninety percent of my shots and kills have been placed one inch behind the elbow through the ribcage and in every case the lungs were completely trashed. One time I missed and hit the front forelimb and it put a hole as big as my fist in his chest and he died instantly too but much more meat loss.
Two hogs of >225 pounds I shot head on right between the eyes at 125-150 yards each and both also dropped in their tracks.Comment

If all you have is an AR15 in 5.56 I'll say go for it, shot placement his what matters, all I have to hunt with is SKS and AR15 and I'll take the SKS over the AR, bigger round and tech sights "if I can see it , I can hit it"Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Those are some stout rounds. Based on the shenanigans in the video, you can probably assume that they shot the animal with 55gr FMJ.It depends:

WOW, I have never seen so much hunting fail in my life. I think you guys have been brainwashed.
1000s of hunters hunt pig, deer and other large game with a FREAKING BOW & ARROW. You people think an arrow is doing more damage than a proper sized .223?
You want to post pics of guys using the wrong .223 or 5.56 on game fine. That doesn't negate the fact the proper hunting 5.56 or .223 ammo will drop a large boar like a sack of poop.
Lets post pics of guys using target tipped arrows hunting deer, then post that the FREAKING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DEER HARVESTED EVERY DARN YEAR WITH ARROWS ARE CRUEL....
The modern .223 5.56 designed for hunting game is nearly twice as deadly as the ammo used 60 years ago.
Its complete and utter FUD, MYTH AND IGNORANCE to say the .223 isn't a mid-sized game hunting round. That's old and out dated. Its was born from the animal rights groups protesting hunting. It is propagated by old hunters who can't or don't want to learn how to aim...and need and want a FREAKING cannon to hunt a 120 pound animal.
I process deer for 2 years at my Cousins bait and tackle shop. During hunting season the back loading dock was filled with recent game and he charged $25 to butcher it all up, pack it and label all packages as to what was in each...steak, flank, ribs, hamburger, stew chunks...ect. Some of these deer had 2 or 3 holes in them so big I could stick my whole fist in... 12 ga slug holes from 20 feet or less....and you think that is "humane" but a well placed heart / head shot from a 5.56x45 is not... OMG the 12ga is so cruel...LETS NOW BAN IT and tell people not to hunt with that.. What about the arrow through the lung and the 9mm hole in the head? what about the 3 arrows to the heart, lung and neck...wow we need to band together and ban bow hunting..its so unethical..
give me a break....
