Since when does anyone have to present themselves a certain way to purchase a firearm?

      What is MORE probable
      1) A guy who sells guns for a living doesnt want to sell a $3,000 gun to a ready and willing buyer
      or
      2) A guy who sells guns for a living didnt think you were serious and figured you for a fool not worth his time.

One of those two things happened. There is no other explanation besides discrimination.

Your story is, "a guy didnt want to sell you a $3,000 gun." I find that hard to believe...so I imagine #2 is the more probable explanation...which leads me to the conclusion you didnt present yourself very well.

The sooner you face a mirror the better off you will be. You caused some of this... If you feel otherwise you need to call the store and report the clerk to the Owners for I think they would want to know a clerk refused to sell you a firearm.
      Diesel,

Go to amazon.com and order the book "how to master the art of selling" by Tom Hopkins.

I promise that once you do you will realize how much you are failing with your answers in this thread.

Nothing wrong with that. I have seen it 100 times over. I have been in stores where you couldn't rack and dry fire a Glock.

EXACTLY.... Now please explain why a person would refuse to sell.

Once again for the slow witted here.... Pink called me up last week, she needed training for the up coming Federation vs Klingon Empire war. Captain Kirk was in a rush.... do you buy this story 100%? WHY NOT..war happens all the time??? people take defense classes all the time...WTH is wrong with you... my story is 100% true?

          1) Do you believe Pink called me?
          2) Do you believe there is such a thing as war?
          3) Do you believe she needs combat training?
          4) Do you believe she wants this training to fight Klingons?
....I can go on and on and on.

I believe the clerk viewed the OP as a non-buyer, goofball not worth his time. Instead of the OP putting him straight, calling a manager, doing what a REAL BUYER WOULD DO... he walked out... proving the clerk's point.

When a real buyer walks into a store and a clerk refuses to help... what do you do? Do you ask for help..or do you walk out? Walking out proves to the inept salesman he was correct in judging that you are a fake.

A few simple sentences would have fixed this, "I want to buy this. Here is my money. Now remove the zip tie so I can check the function of my firearm"

I walk out, because more times than not a "clerk" has the attitude from their boss, and it's just as easy for me to drive to the next FFL, or just order online.

Clearly, a rhetorical question, but completely moot point.

The Federal Civil Rights Act guarantees all people the right to full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin.

That applies to personal appearence, personal odor, and just about anything else you can conjure up, including an unpleasant attitude, or the assumption that I am not going to buy, or cannot afford the merchandise.

These days, if you are a business owner, and you are open to the public, you are in fact subject to being sued for refusing service to anyone, for any reason. Generally, and under normal circumstances, the only time you have the right to refuse service is if it is outside of normal business hours. In short, that statement, and those signs, mean next to nothing.

Regardless of your response, spare me your sarcasm, and the typing in bold caps. It is nothing short of obnoxious, and brings no merit to whatever point you are trying to make.

While this is a great sentiment, it is rarely the reality. Bottom line is that when someone drops 3k on a gun most people would appreciate the assurance that it hasn't been finger****ed by dozens of people who came in shopping around. In my experience this is the exact reaction I'd expect from any shop selling a high end firearm.

I understand the OP's frustration, but it's a reality we all have to live with because from the shop's point of view it's not all about you and what you want, it's about what the guy who actually makes the purchase wants.

                    Wow, just wow.
You really really DON'T get it.

Good to know you promote the contempt to customers attitude.

You seriously need to read the book I listed. Then again I don't know why I am attempting to help you out again.
You obviously have your mind made up. Again , you don't realize that when the clerk or salesman "judges" the customer incorrectly and is not tactful, then it's the clerk and the store that loses! Man why is that so difficult to comprehend?
Did you miss the part where the op said he went to another store and made his purchase there?
You seem to think it's the customers job to force the sale.

Let me ask you this Deisel,

Why should I as a customer have to endure being insulted by a clerk thinking I'm a "goofball" and being treated with contempt when I can drive to another store, be treated with respect, politeness and where that store sincerely is thankful for my business?

How do you know that the "browser" won't turn into a buyer?

And the display case gun? The dealer knows going in that this item will sell as a demo item because it's been handled and it is on display to be shown to prospective buyers, and they should expect that there might be a few flaws when they sell it eventually.
You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You might not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first two things you're going to do are, 1) Call someone with a gun, 2) Pray they get there in time.

You don't have to put up with it. You have to look at what you did and ask why it happened.

If you truly, 100%, no questions asked, think this guy KNEW you wanted to buy and refused...fine. We are done.

I am telling you right now, I will bet you $3,000 right now that the clerk will have a completely different story then you.... it will be about some weird guy & girl who came in and tried to get him to remove the zip tie on a $3K firearm so they could play with it while pretending to be bigshots..then walk out not buying a single thing. The "boss" will congradulate him on doing exactly what he was told to do...NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, REMOVE THE ZIP TIES ON THE ED BROWNS UNLESS THE PERSON HAS BOUGHT THE FIREARM. IF YOU REMOVE THE ZIP TIE BEFORE THE SALE YOU WILL BE FIRED IF THEY DO NOT BUY IT.

Dude... the guy was following orders. He told you that. You confirmed to him you were NOT really going to buy the firearm buy turning around and walking out the door.

The simple act of pulling out your credit card would have gotten you two things
                        1) An Ed Brown 1911
                        2) Got to play with your new Ed Brown (checking the action and trigger ) before waiting your 10 days.
