Sounds like you're comparing Apples to oranges.

      At least you're honest.

I never really loved guns. I'd just always assumed it was a regular thing to own and shoot them. I also watched waaay too many westerns.

        A 1917 Colt 1903 ... it's like new, works flawlessly.

Those thoughts came back to me on a stroll through WalMart's big screen section. A 42' LCD + HD game console runs about $800. How long will that stuff last? Maybe 10 years , perhaps longer.

As to firearms, well. There are 1911s still ticking today that were made in 1918! There are people carrying examples of Hi-Powers and 1911s that were made in the 40's and 50s. A handgun bought today can last decades with responsible care and maintenance.Unlike a modern cell phone, computer, TV, or nearly every other consumer good a firearm is durable and can save your behind from a bad situation. I have yet to hear of the carjacking that was thwarted by an Apple product, but plenty of bad guys are pushing daisies thanks to $500 Glocks.

A Macbook air won't keep you alive or save you from a mob, but that $1500 Kimber in your safe just might. As such spending money on firearms is less like buying a product, and more like investing in your and your family's future. In 20 years, the guns in your safe will still be around. You computer, TV, car, and current wife probably won't.
On top of all this, who hands down a computer to their kids?

          Guns are intergenerational

i get huge satisfaction from target shooting, when i see that glass bottle explode through my scope, i get a big grin on my face....

i love the bang percussion from shooting, sometimes i take my ear protection out just to hear it better lol.

doing a mag dump? come on that alone is enough to make me want a gun....BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM (cali 10 rd limit lol)

ive been into guns since i was a little kid, grew up watching war movies, had BB guns as a kid....its just sometimes most guys are into.

and finally, INVESTMENT. guns are a great investment long term, they might just save your *** one day...and if not you can pass them onto your family to protect them as well...

Guns appeal to me for 2 reasons: 1) like someone else said on the thread, the're the modern battle ax and we are still part barbarian, and 2) they are fun as tools, you can open them up and like the cars of yesteryear, modify them. I do the same with electric guitars, constantly tuning, tweaking and adjusting to improve performance.
