None of her business but she is just asking because all too often kids get killed with parents guns.
There was a poll on here about how CalGunners with kids stored their guns. I was shocked at how many didn't keep them locked up.If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

I would be VERY cautious about answering such questions at this point. The reason for the push for "electronic health records" is to allow Medicare (read "the government") easier access to records.
Such things are easy to highlight, and given the proclivity of politicians to be anti-gun, you don't really know where this information will lead. True, the government already has your registration information, so they know you own some. But such information is most likely going to be used to set your individual premium for health care.

No it is a "boundary violation" (IE. an ethics violation) and a letter to the licensing board will result in an ethics investigation of the practitioner who asked the question. So the correct answer is to tell them that the question is a "boundary violation" and to ask them if they want you to report it or if they are going to report themselves. They will turn white as a sheet and then move on to the next question.Comment

My kid is grown with her own kids, but when this question about guns in the house came up recently on this board it left some spur marks. I detest the nanny statism such lines of questioning represents. To the point it's intrusive and doesn't warrant a response.
The problem is, not answering actually IS an answer and will be recorded as such. So, in retrospect, my suggestion is to give the same response as I do to the unanswerable question we all face at various points in our life:
Question: "Do these pants make my butt look big?" (aka, "Do you have guns in the house?")
