Yep same reply that everyone else gives lol. Instead of repeating what you've heard from others maybe you should find you a Bushmaster and actually shoot it. I'd like to know whats wrong with my Bushmaster since you're such an expert on them though. Quickly Google them for meThe fact that you're such a staunch defender of Bushmaster actually tells me all I need to know. But if you insist on more "qualified" opinions, I can steer you towards experienced NSW/MARSOC armorers here in San Diego who will tell you exactly the same thing. I'm happy your Bushy works for you (really, I am), but they are not a benchmark of consistency and quality.
As far as being a "staunch defender" There's a reason for that and its because everything I've heard people say about Bushmasters haven't been true on my rifle. But go ahead and point out everything you know that's wrong with them.

Love how this thread devoled into a Bushie vs. Colt thread.
For sub $700, you have S&W Sport, Del-Ton and DPMS. S&W Sport would be recommended by far over the other two."The only right more important than gun rights to cgn members is the right to be a drama queen..." jimxComment

It's not a Bushy vs Colt thing I'm not trying to compare Bushmaster to a Colt I just simply want to know the problem's he seems to know that I'm suppose to be having with my rifle.Comment

Just because you have not had any issues with your Chevy Impala, you'll have a hard time finding people recommending it over a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord.Yep same reply that everyone else gives lol. A coworker had one of these, and it was very comfortable to shoot. It was very light, and seemed very stable. My 20" A2 clone (no-burst
) is way heavier, but should last longer. I see no problem with this as an entry AR.
The M4 style is really very nice and light (compared to a 20" HBAR A2 or a mucho-railed 16+")...
I am not really a "rails all over" guy, and they weigh too much with all the rails.
Did I mention they are light?!?

How do you know I have zero experience with Bushmaster? How do you know some very qualified friends of mine don't as well? Again, all assumptions.
I'll repeat. I'm glad you have a Bushy that works and leave it at that.
Have fun being the snarky, keyboard commando you obviously enjoy being. This conversation is not helping the OP and frankly, it's making you look like the village idiot instead of me.Comment

Ok,Krisjon you obviously know my rifle better than I do.Wow, do you assume a lot. Again, this tells me just about everything I need to know about you.

. I guess i'll take my over-gassed, poorly gas key staked no m4 feed ramp having Bushmaster and go home
lol.
But OP I own a Bushmaster and it works flawlessly so would I recommend one? Yes because I actually own one and it works perfectly. Just watch out for people that go by hear say.Last edited by TNP'R; 07-06-2012, 5:45 PM.Comment

Part of the reason why Colt was chosen to produce the M-16 was because Armalite did not have the production capabilities to produce the quantity needed and in a specific time frame.

Wow, lot of action in this thread.
To the OP, most of your questions have already been answered, and to be quite honest a lot of them would have been extremely easy to find via the forum search function. Google would have info about local gun stores in your area.
There are plenty of good websites such as gunsamerica, guntrader, and the like, but they would not actually be able to ship to you. You could get a firearm shipped to you, pay the shipping fees and the transfer fees and the dealer fees, or you could support one of your local gun stores and do a walk-in purchase. ETA: one way or another, you're gonna have to walk into a store (or home of an FFL) to get the paperwork done.
If it's your first rifle, you should do a LOT of research before walking in, because the guys behind the counter often give out misinformation.
Also, there's nothing wrong with walking into a LGS and asking the guys behind the counter if they have anything on sale, what's new, can i hold that one?, and so on.
Good luck in your purchase, and don't forget that many dealers are willing to haggle the price a little bit, or give a cash purchase discount if you pay in full.RIP Cpl Contreras, Sgt Atwell and LtCol Raible.Comment

Here's more anecdotal evidence: The Bushmaster that a friend owned circa 2002 worked great for all 1,000 round that he shot out of it before he sold it. The newer Bushmaster that someone seated next to me was shooting two range trips ago had the bolt crack in half after not very many rounds.Ok,Krisjon you obviously know my rifle better than I do.

As I've heard before, it works great until it doesn't.Comment

Not surprised. Old Bushmaster is not Bushmaster of the last several years. Here's more anecdotal evidence: The Bushmaster that a friend owned circa 2002 worked great for all 1,000 round that he shot out of it before he sold it. The way I see it, Armalite, Bushmaster and Colt (etc) are like the Macintosh in the computer world. Pretty package, and not a bad product, but overpriced and paying for the brand name. You can get something that works, and works well for half or less if you shop smart. My AR is 7.62x39, so that if/when we get invaded, I can shoot their ammo back at them!

My Bushmaster that I bought in January of this year has a little over 3000 rounds through it not a hiccup yet. 3k isn't that much but if anything was going to go wrong it would of happened long before then. I'm tired of these know it alls telling me how crappy my rifle is or how it doesn't have properly staked gas keys (which it does) or it doesn't have a black crano ring (which it does) or doesn't have m4 feed ramps (which it does) or doesn't have a m4 buffer (which it does). All these things so called experts on Bushmasters tell me that's wrong with them have not shown up on my rifle. Here's more anecdotal evidence: The Bushmaster that a friend owned circa 2002 worked great for all 1,000 round that he shot out of it before he sold it. I love it when people patronize me and tell me how ****ty it is then turn around and oh im happy for you im glad it works.
I'll be sure to let you all know when my rifle shatters in pieces ok
