    Eagle Scout AR

My son is on his path to becoming an eagle scout and I would like to present him with an eagle scout themed AR similar to the BSA centennial Henry rifle that came out a few years ago. The Henry is about $900 bucks and I can build one hell of a cool AR for just a little bit more.

I was thinking that an eagle badge and his name engraved on the lower would look awesome and then put the scout oath and law on the upper.

Has anyone done anything like this before?

First off, congrats on your son becoming an Eagle Scout. I personally know how much work it is to become an Eagle Scout being one myself.

As far as engraving I would probably check out SureShot Precision http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...light=sureshot

Becoming an Eagle Scout is quite an accomplishment .
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

First off, congrats on your son becoming an Eagle Scout! I wish I had pushed through and finished my Eagle project faster when I had the chance(ran out of time ).

Sounds like a pretty cool project. I hope you go through with it, I'd love to see it when you finish it!

Well then WAY to GO! That is a great accomplishment. I only came out First Class. Had I known THEN what I knew now though I would have pushed myself to make a few ranks higher but I was just a kid and I went for the social issues mainly.

There is a small conflict here in your idea though. Although it is a GREAT idea to do that for an Eagle Scout the conflict would be to shoot it or not to shoot it. If you make it too nice and he likes it too much then it might not get shot, but if you don't make it look nice then why bother as it will just be another gun?

I was gonna say have the magwell engraved and have the lettering filled in with gold but will all of that fit onto an AR? I have to look at mine again to see how that would fit.

But HEY! Whatever you do, do NOT engrave the bullets. Especially with an engraver that heats things up. And when you are done I think you should post some pics of the work. From time to time I want things engraved nicely and it is good to see samples of work.

Congrats to your son, from yet another Eagle Scout. It will pay off in many unforeseen ways during his life.

The engraved AR should definitely include the motto: "Be Prepared"

                        Fits perfectly on a rifle.
Maybe an Eagle logo, or something else, engraved between the upper and lower like on Noveske's:

                        That screams custom.

Good ideas everyone, thank you. The motto will be included for sure. I've got to figure out where to put everything so it doesn't look cluttered or junky.

I'm sure my son will use this too, it won't be a safe queen. I will post pics after it's done.

As in no logo ( rollmark) at all? No one, but if you go the 80% route you can have the lower laser etched or engraved however you want.
