I was all ready to refute your headline, but then I read the article. Very interesting, thanks for posting it.

      Jewish gun owner here.

None of my family or extended family owns guns as far as I know. It just never has crossed their minds and the Jewish people in general are just peaceful people. My grandma always rails at me for owning and she explains that she has gotten to her age without ever needing a gun.

I guess its just a community thing...

Edit: Also due to how you are suppose to kill animals in accordance with Kashrut, hunting would violate some of these laws.

The Rabbi likes the Nuge (Ted Nugent) ! He admits they don't always see eye to eye, but on 2A they do...

I'm still confused by this website, but it's far from boring....

          This is pretty severe...

. Self hatred and a wish to be helpless, acting out guilt-based behavioral problems that develop in childhood

The founder of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, the late Aaron Zelman, framed this succinctly with many Jews he met. They would express outrage at Aaron’s classical approach of arming for safety, peace through strength and deterrence as a means of achieving peace and stability (which is Israel’s approach, though he didn’t frame it in those terms). They would emphatically reject the idea that all Jews should be educated to arms and know how to handle and shoot guns for their own safety. He could see through their self-righteous bluster and tell them, “You’re just a self-hating Jew waiting to sniff the gas.”

The Jews I know all immigrated from the former Soviet Union, uniformly favor gun ownership, and are armed.
Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. So said somebody but not Mark Twain
"One argues to a judge, one does not argue with a judge." Me
"Never argue unless you are getting paid." CDAA
"I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it." George Bernard Shaw

Its a good article. Its from an organization called 'Jews for the preservation of firearms ownership' founded by the late Aaron Zellman.

They were some of the early activists reviving the notion that gun laws are rooted in racisim and genocide. They were also instrumental in spreading the facts about the 68 GCA and its near verbatim copy from the Weimar and Nazi gun laws. A subject that hits close to home for Jews...

I'm not Jewish, but if I was, I would probably be even more pro 2A and more pro gun than I am, if such a thing is possible. My company did the soundtrack for a documentary about holocaust survivors called, "A Simple Matter of God and Country' http://www.asimplematter.com/ and it had a fairly profound affect on my outlook about Jews and guns.

I also did a bit of work on the film Defiance, which was the opposite, it was about the Jews who turned into opposition fighters against the Nazis. I cannot think of a group, ethnic or religious, who could not benefit from RKBA. Without that right, you are pretty much veal just waiting for the wolves to come.

and the thing is that high profile Jewish law makers are highly anti gun. really makes one think about if they know about genocide and the laws that helped it happen. gun control being one of them. the Warsaw ghetto made the German Army think twice about that place.

i sometimes wonder why some one would want to disarm people knowing that it would only hurt the lawfull individual and not the criminal. and in Israel don't a majority of people carry full automatic weapons in open and in public. i guess there self defense is not frowned upon there as it is here by the Jewish community. could i be wrong?

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

Why do get the feeling that a few people didnt read the link, or have never heard of JFPO....?

In Israel, serving in the IDF is mandatory, but I dont think a majority walk around with assault rifles.

A country and a people that are under constant threat of being 'pushed into the sea' by their neighbors, is well aware of the benefits of an armed populace. I dont know what their gun laws are like though, I assume they are close to those of Europe. Attitudes about guns, self defense and self determination take on a very different charachter in the Holy Land, although not to far removed from our own.

An interested area of study in Jewish history is the re-occupation of currently held Israelie territory, the war against the Palastinians and later Egypt.

When England pulled out of Palastine after WWII, they basically told the Jews, 'you better get on the boat with us, cause were outta here.' They then turned over all the armories, forts and government building to the palastinians.... Jewish fighters, some with experiance fighting as partisans on the Eastern front (There is a great book called, 'If not now, when? about partisan fighters that I highly recommend.), took back Jerusalim and the surrounding territory with great success and booted the Arabs out.

The 'Six Day War' with Egypt was over so quick (six days) that Jews from the US that left to fight missed the action and showed up to late... Talk about pre-emptive strike...

                            Married a gun-owning Jew.

And there is a lot of bullcrap and self-righteous crap in that article. Way to be holier than thou and pretend that "I'm a true Jew", and all those Jews who don't like guns are not real Jews.

What a load of crap. Way to undermine an otherwise good cause.

And no, Sara Palin is not Jewish. She was born Catholic, and converted to evangelical Christianity.

It repeatedly states in the article, "American Jews". I doubt that anyone who has visited Israel would think that Israeli Jews are anti-gun. They kind of don't have a choice in the matter when all of their neighbors want them dead.
