It seems to me that almost every ad in the Selling Handguns/Long Guns sections are from Junior Members with little to no posting history here. Why is that?

Why is every WTS post from a Junior Member?

It never used to be like that. Either a lot of older members have bailed, there is a ton of new members or some other more nefarious reason.Comment

Well there is the ABC agencies
That, and maybe a lot of people that bought during the scamdemic are no longer wanting what they aquired. I would place a small bet on the nefarious part of scamming.Wilson Protector .45, Springer 9mm Loaded, Franchi Instinct SL .12ga. and some other cool stuff for the kiddos...Comment

Yes. Us older members in other states sell on our local gun rag. No FFL involved and in a parking lot.Comment

I've made deals with a lot of members that never post outside of the marketplace. They all seemed like great people. Something to note is that the CGN demographic that posts a lot outside of the marketplace seems older, very bitter, angry, and not at all interested in sharing diverse perspectives except to bash them. The younger demographic probably use other formats to communicate or it's not as important to them to have someone constantly validating and affirming their opinions as it is to the CGN curmudgeon demographic. The younger demographic probably has happier more active fulfilling lives than the older demographic who are probably more isolated and lonely. I wonder why that is?Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 06-20-2024, 1:24 PM.CRPA and NRA member.
Note that those who have repeatedly expressed enough vile and incoherent content as to render your views irrelevant, have been placed on my ignore list. Thank you for helping me improve my experience and direct my attention towards those who are worthy of it. God bless your toxic little souls.Comment

I'm sure there's also plenty of older folks that just use the marketplace as well. So not really sure if it is an age thing. But the "Off Topic" sub forum is pretty repulsive, just plain stupid and seems to be dominated by curmudgeons. I can see how most folks don't want to be a part of that clown show.Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 06-20-2024, 4:34 PM.CRPA and NRA member.

My experience is almost exactly the same as yours. Bought some stuff from CalGunners and they seem to be really nice people, completely different from the ones that frequent the non-marketplace forums. Of the many firearms forums websites out there, including ones like the High Road, Rimfire Central, SigTalk, Smith-Wesson Forum, Calguns has the most angriest, pettiest, arrogant members that seem to be ready and waiting to talk down on why their gun oil is superior to yours, or that their decades of shooting experience means they are right and you're wrong.

But to answer your question, I think it has to do with part of the forum name: CALguns, and the CAL part, a state which has the most stringent, stupid, and anti-gun laws in the country, so these same users are just looking for an outlet to vent their anger and frustration. Not saying that its good or right, but that's probably why they do it.NRA Pistol/Rifle Instructor

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?😂 1Comment

People are frustrated that's for sure. But there's a lot of hateful rhetoric towards certain groups (gays, women, minorities, etc...) and it just gets really old after a while. I mean sure some jokes are funny at first. But after a while, they are just tired, then they start to become repulsive. And if anyone confronts the hate, you get labeled as "TDS" or gay, or something really juvenile and stupid. And this is coming for grown men probably over the age of 60. They think they are clever but they just come across as crude and uneducated.

Also some of the worst offenders don't even live in CA anymore. So what do they have to be so angry about if their life is so much better in another state? Why do they spend so much time on this forum talking crap and spewing hateful nonsense? It doesn't make any sense.Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 06-20-2024, 10:43 PM.CRPA and NRA member.

Maybe the new guys bought a firearm they could afford, then after shooting it realize they could have done better and are looking to unload the old to buy something new?
