GUNS ON MOTORCYCLES

I've considered taking the motorcycle to the range as well-
Best thing I've thought of so far, is a guitar "gig bag" which is a soft guitar case with backpack straps. May have issues of riding too low on the back- as I hadnt actually tried it yet...
But would be nice and discreet. Find one at sam ash/guitar center for less than $15.Comment

Yea but I would imagine that it'd catch wind pretty good if you got up to freeway speed. I've seen a bunch of guys at Chabot that rode up and shot pistols.sigpicLord, make my hand fast and accurate.

*raises hand*
yes yes yes, watch out for the wind - today was really bad, I'd say near 15mph in some places in the East Bay here in Norcal and the Bay Bridge was not so fun. I personally would not ride with a guitar-sized package on my back in the Bay Area, way too dangerous.Comment

I bet, my little Harley gets blown around pretty bad already, I can't imagine having something big strapped to my back*raises hand*

I'm not that concerned with the wind- just if the bag sits too low or not-
I have 3 gig bags, and I'll have to try it one of these days.... the bag holds the body of the guitar down- I would put the rifle in muzzle up- I really dont think it'd get blown around too bad. most of the bag- the wide part- is tight against your back- just the headstock part of a guitar- or the muzzle of the rifle would be "in the wind"-
Course I dont think I'd ride like that to palm springs on the 111.... but "normal" winds shouldnt be much issue.
And harleys are low and heavy.... not affected by wind at all like a sport bike.Comment

I use one of these bizarre hard-case backpacks (by Boblbee) to carry handguns (in their locked boxes) on the bike. I haven't tried to transport a long gun yet.

They're hard plastic, and have a thick foam backpad, so allegedly protect both the pistol case and my back in case of impact.Comment

For long guns you could look into the "drag bags" with the double 'backpack' style straps. I've seen them in Blackhawk and US Cavalry among others. Don't know if it would ride to low on a bike though.Pokey
Chivalry is not dead! Its just that now when a man puts his coat down for a woman, its to keep her from getting her back wet.

I've considered a drag bag- but I like the guitar gig bag idea better- a bit more "discreet".Comment

How about we have a Motorcycle/shoot day at the range for us SOCAL riders?

I got a cheaper one, it rides way too low.
Handgun transport? I've got tons of smaller backpacks, or my tank bag would work.sigpicNRA MemberOriginally posted by Deadbolt"We're here to take your land for your safety"

Anyone have info on the shotgun mounts on the CHP bikes? (pics/urls/etc)
As I've been eyeballing a used Kawasaki bike for a while... this would be an interesting add.
