        I don't charge the ladies

I made my 2 best friends buy their own ammo beforehand....they quickly lost interest with shooting after it cost them $35/each + $ for the range/targets. I ain't pickin' up that bill. Thats the only time I've taken non-shooters.

I usually have 'em pay for their range use ($12 at Richmond) and provide the ammo.

Usually after the shooting session they pitch in $20, but I've never asked. Once someone shot a bunch of ammo (about half my supply!) and didn't offer any money or ammo. I haven't invited him since.

If you invited them it's on your dime, unless it's stated they pay for ammo.

Have them stop by Walmart and buy some ammo. It's a little friendlier to have them buy ammo to bring with them, rather than telling them to bring cash.

Having them buy ammo also gives them an idea of what it costs. Otherwise, they may think ammo is cheap.

                      That's what .22 is for.

1st time is on me for everything.

I usually let them go through a mag or 2 or 9mm, .40, .45, 10mm so they can say they did and get the difference between the characteristics of the calibers.

1911 are usually the most accurate/easy to shoot for most new shooters, regardless of it be a .45

I usually start them off on a .22 rifle with a red dot sight and let them blast away until about 20 mins before I want to go.

Then I'll let them try a few mags of different handgun calibers.

I don't let new shooters touch .308 or 12 gauge.

.223 might be okay, but you need to gauge their reaction to 9mm before moving to different calibers.

Most new female shooters are very comfortable with .22 in a rifle and will happily go through 1/2 a brick.

                      I don't own a .22 pistol, or I'd use that as well.

2nd time for ANYBODY, they pay range fee and I'll cover all targets and .22 ammo. Maybe one box of 9mm. Anything else is out of their pocket.

3rd time, they usually have their own gun.

First times free and it's mostly .22 After that ammo is on them. They can use my guns IF they've proven themselves not to be irresponsible morons on the first trip.

Only when I've offered to loan a 50BMG to someone for a match. 50-75 rounds of match ammo can be a bit pricey.

First time is all FREE guns, ammo and the ride to the range. Second trip pay your way. Third trip your completely independent, gun ammo, food and drink, but if you bring your girl friend I will smile......
