Didn't want to bring this up yet but we're currently developing a product that amplifies the twang for our customers who embrace the twang but are unfortunately hard of hearing. You just replace your existing buffer with our product, codenamed "TWANG DANG," and you will experience an 85dbA increase in twang sound pressure level (SPL). The sound is transmitted directly to your hearing aids or to your electronic muffs via bluetooth wireless connection. For customers who do not use electronic muffs or hearing aids, we have a bluetooth cassette tape boombox adapter so you can set your boombox on your bench so everyone else can hear the amplified twang too. In live fire tests of our prototypes, we found a marked improvement in the ability of the shooter to hear the twang. Using the boombox can be upsetting to nearby shooters who may confuse your amplified twang with the unamplified twang of their own weapons. For this reason we will not recommend the use of the boombox adapter at a public range. MSRP $149.99. Bluetooth Cassette tape adapter sold separately. Expected availability 4/1/12. NOT SOLD IN STORES.

If Yu don't like the twang, get a Mini-14.

Saint Eugene of Stoner designed it with a twang, that's good enough for me.

I have heard that a extra power buffer spring might reduce or eliminate it. I just got one to test but I haven't shot with it yet. Will post results.

Naw, I'll keep my Ar and just grease it how I see fit. I love my rifle but the spring noise had to go.
Mr Stoner had a team of designers btw. I'm sure they would like some credit
for their work on the platform too.

That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

Elk Grove? Makes you a Yank and would therefore cause "twang" discomfort syndrome. Take 2 hunting trips to Texas twice a year and call me in the morning.

LOL.... I love the twang and the following twung...mag change and repeat.

Brownells (and others) sell the "twang buster" it's a Delrin disc that goes in the receiver extension that attenuates the noise a bit. I got one for 2 or 3 bucks from pkfirearms.com. and put it in my spikes carbine, it helps a little...

My LWRC does this. My Noveskes don't. I always thought it had something to do with it being a piston gun.

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT put any type of heavy grease on the buffer spring!!!!

Sure, it might not make a sound anymore but when your buffer seizes up to the rear while you are firing (seen it happen more than once) you are stuck with a paperweight.

it is an excessivly large spring i'v often wondered if it would be possible to move the spring over the barrel and attach it via a rod to a side charging bolt

that way i could store packs of gogurt in the tube
