Another idiot at the range

A few years ago, I was at an IDPA match at a private club when we heard automatic fire coming from another "range." After finishing the match, we went over to see what was going on. It was a training course for the stars of a movie that was about to start filming, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. They were using different NFA weapons and live ammo. After I was there for about 5 minutes, Angelina walked over to the table that all the weapons were on, picked up an AK that already had a mag in it (I don't know if it was empty or not and it doesn't make a difference) and proceded to sweep the entire crowd of on lookers! I started to say something and was quickly told to be quiet because they were paying the club a lot of money. I held my tongue and quickly walked away and left the facility and haven't been back since!

Hey, "Security" is almost PD, and far superior to Military. I'm sure he's been out on missions and is a trained operator.

What was the purpose of that comment? Sounds like you're trying to put down milsurpshooter?

For this and MANY other reasons I stopped going to shooting ranges. The BLM property has much better shooting conditions ... nobody for hundreds of yards.

That said I did have an eye opening event as a couple of yahoos opened fire at me (and everyone else down range. Their lowered Civic couldn't make it up the slope to the area where everyone else was at and shooting so they just got close and settled down to shooting about 300 yards from everyone else. I heard bullets wizzing over my head.

Unfortunately I was armed only with a .22-250 bolt action rifle. I made a tactical aproach waiting for them to empty their magazines before cresting the gulley and calling them out. They were a couple of noobs with a pair of SKS rifles ... and not a clue between them.

A 22-250 @ 300 yds? I don't see the problem. If it had come down to it, you had them outgunned!

JUST KIDDING....twern't me. BTDT on the recieving end just like you more times than I care to count...only time I didn't come unglued when it did/does happen was when I was at the Gun store and the clown behind the counter swept me and my MOM that I took to help her pick out a gun. He swept us...I said "Thanks Jack ***" and we turned around and left.

If it was a joke it was a bad one that didn't make any sense. He commented on something he has nothing to do with or know about just like the post after his.

Wow, it's like this topic was prophetic. Today was "unsafe habits day" at Chabot today. People going to benches during cease-fire, people wandering up toward the line with their muzzles pointed at our backs, people uncasing their rifles with the muzzles pointed in a direction other than down-range.

I'm sure someone'll cry about getting yelled at for it. It's so mean to yell at people!!!

I went shooting yesterday with the oldest daughter. We shot groups at 100 yards with the AR and then moved back and shot at 200 yards and then to 350 yards where she hit the 6" metal gong 3 out of 5 times.

Then we went looking for jack rabbits with no luck.

gentlemen, I believe we have all been yelled at by the RO more than once in our lives.

most of the time people are careless because they have not been properly taught. if we want our way of life to continue, we as shooters must make the effort to educate those who are less well informed. Yell, scream, go livid with fury if you like, but tell them what they are doing wrong. Otherwise, we are merely preaching to the choir.
