gun locks
this morning I went to a gun shop in town to start the paperwork on a gun that I won at the FNRA dinner last saturday night. on the wall there was a sign that said that every firearm that leaves this shop goes with a FREE gun lock. I have several of these cable locks . the Nye county sheriffs office gave me two of them with my concealed carry permit. I use one of them to lock my generator in the back of my pickup.Comment

I am somewhat concerned about this issue. A few days ago, I purchased a rifle at a local sporting goods retailer that has retail locations throughout the western United States.
I asked about the total cost, including tax, DROS fee and the price of a lock if it would be required at pickup time. I was told the firearm included a lock in the box, so purchasing one would not be required.
As the employee was opening the box to place the rifle in after I filled out the paperwork, he pulled out a cable lock and stated "See, it comes with a lock". He set the lock on the counter and boxed up the rifle.
After returning from "running my info", he gathered the paperwork and tossed the lock into a box on the floor behind the counter. I sure hope they don't forget the lock when I go to pick it up.Just taking up space in (what is no longer) the second-worst small town in California.Comment
