In addition be careful of your HR department. If they talk to you in passing and even hint at something to steer you into trouble don't fall for it!!!! Despite Californias economical times the corporate structure will spend millions to get rid of you cuz you have them. I don't know how other states are but our state is so anti-gun it's amazing how we got into all this trouble in the first place.

I'm glad I don't work where you do. I may be one of only a very small number of gun owners where I work, but most of the people I work with know that I'm a hunter and shooter. I don't hide it from anyone. I have taken co-workers to the range. I've had firearms discussions with 'antis'. No problems here.
NapaPlinker,
If your refering to your work enviroment it's best never to tell anyone about your hobby. It's better to say you head to Vegas now and then to gamble than to say you shoot guns for a hobby.
Once you tell someone about it at work it spreads like wild fire and you can get fired. You think women are bad a spreading rumors???? Believe me... men are just as bad if not worse so gender doesn't mater.
Keep your mouth shut and don't take any of your co-workers to the range even if their your buddies. You'll pay a dear price for it.

Sorry, man. Nothing worse than getting heckled by the wife.
At least that's what they tell me.
How about just changing a few words in your sentence and repeating it back to her..."You never even wear them all; your closet is full, when are you going to get rid of some shoes/clothes/earrings/jewelry
The answers....well, they make us puke.Comment

I have ran into that a few times in my life, each time I gave the same answer.
Since I've been old enough to have a job the main tools of my trade have been firearms.
Would you ask a carpenter why he likes hammers or an accountant why he uses a calculator. The U.S. Government and the state of California have spent allot of time and money training me to use the tools of my trade. So dont you think its perfectly normal for me to have an interest in them.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

I agree, i work with A LOT of people and I've only ever heard one guy complain about them after watching the news becasue there was a gang shooting. But i made him be quiet.I'm glad I don't work where you do. I may be one of only a very small number of gun owners where I work, but most of the people I work with know that I'm a hunter and shooter. I get a fair amount of heckling, then again I am frequently using "blah" time reading or researching something 2A related. The funny thing is I work with the military, deployed, and I am unarmed...sigpic

Haha that bolded part made me imagine you like to do desk pops at your office..What do you say when people heckle you about owning firearms? It seems like theres always the people; family members, or not who dislike everything about our hobbies and interesst. I was told today to find a new hobby, people being scared where Im "going" with "guns". Not once have I done anything unsafe, unethical, unmoral, or stupid with a firearm they are my hobby and protection as well as all of my fellow calgunners. So once again what am i supposed to say to get my point across my answers never seem to be good enough for people.
By the way.. the best way to combat a naysayer is to tell them a story about when you were younger. Your friend's family was robbed in their home.. the robbers took all the home items but then for some reason, shot and killed the entire family out of pure evilness(These people are out there..). Tell them ever since you made it a firm belief that you nor your family would be a victim like that.
Trust me.. with these types of people.. any other reason they will not want to rationalize with.Last edited by Cbr1000Rider; 12-15-2010, 3:56 PM.Comment

There is no need for you to be defensive about liking/owning guns. So if the conversation is not to your liking, just change the subject. Whether you AD everyday or not doesn't matter (except if you've got bullet scars everywher on you, then that becomes a conversation peice). What do you say when people heckle you about owning firearms? The key is not to bring up the subject; and if others brings it up, you can simply (and naturally) not participate.Comment
