I recall other other burglary threads that were in Cerritos.

Heard of a few of them happen around here. Mostly older kids (with backpacks)walking the streets looking for an easy way in and out..Anything "Gold" is what they are looking for.

The kids see you leave the house, go ring the door bell. If somebody answers they are "looking for their lost dog". If nobody answer they look for away in.

My dog (Golden Retriever) would bark at em all day long. Once they got in the backyard and played with him, he'd probably open the door and show em where everythings at.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

There are crews that will go and knock to see if anyone is home. If no answer and no large dog, they will vault the fence to the back and look for open windows, doors, etc. I have even seen some go as far as kicking in the front door to gain entry...

2.) None of the expensive media was touched. They did *not* steal a handgun that was in one of the drawrs though
4.) Within the last 4 months, their neighbors have also been burgaled.
Youd be surprised how not-odd this case is. This is becoming more and more common.

Typically it is teenagers in their late teens or even young 20-somethings. They knock on the front door usually to see if anyone is home before going around back and helping themselves.
Typically neighbors don't see anything or remember it because it doesn't look out of place as they try to look like they belong there or are regular visitors.
The media in the living room and the gun lead one to believe that they are young and have done this before, they don't want to walk down the street carrying bulky items or get pinched with a gun if they did get stopped. Cash and some jewelry is much easier to run with.
As far as it occuring in the last 4 months, look for it to happen again fairly soon.

This all comes from first hand experience with the matter ^

And...You left a Mod (Turby) waiting over 7 years for a reply?

Seven years may be a long time for a necrothread, but the advice therein is still valid. It's the beginning of summer, and there are a lot of kids out of school, getting into trouble. The sun is warm and windows are being left open. The families are going on their vacations, and people are in good moods, complacent and unworrying.

Burglaries in Cerritos have been going on for quite some time - and I'm talking 25+ years.

I grew up there, before the Cerritos mall was enclosed, and when there were still dairy cows. I live down the street now (two freeway exits away) in Long Beach.
