Funny that OP answered Turbinator's question/post after exactly 7 years and 6 months!

Oh yeah, I didn't know he asked until a few days ago.

anyways, I'm always on guard here. Most neighbors are nice enough but there is some punk looking kide who moved in across the street. He's always blasting rock music and hocking his damn horn.

I got the feeling he'll be trouble one of these days.

Last year there was a bout 4 homes in my neighborhood burglarized. One was next door to me and their daughter was home. When the burglar came inside she had a shotgun ready for him. The girl is 17 y.o. Her dad and i share the same views on firearms and his daughter goes to the range with us all the time. Since her encounter there have been none! Probably the same idiot.

So OP, in the last 7 years have you or any other family members been burglarized again?

Have you set up cameras/heavy doors in your house?

Me and my family have never been burglarized. Some of the few in Cerritos who haven't haha. It feels like any way.

Every house around us has been hit:

The house to our left was hit with burglary, burglars cut up the couches and ransacked the place when they were on vacation.

The house to the rear left of us was hit by home invasion when the father returned home with 10k from the race track in Los Alamitos. Not sure why they opened the door @ night when there was a knock.

The house to our rear was burglarized, and they got a big dog.

The house to our rear right was burglarized when they went on vacation.

My childhood friend's house is nearby and they were hit decades ago. Their house is completely barred up. While Cerritos is hit with burglaries pretty often, theirs is the only house that is completely barred up like they were in Compton. While theft is a problem, it would suck to live in a house that was barred up like a prison.

The 19 year old daughter arrived home from school to find that the house was ransacked. I drove over and, when I got to the house, it was too quiet. So I pulled my revolver out of the trunk and holstered it. I knocked on the door and the daughter answered. I walked around and made sure that no one else was in the house. Also I made sure not to touch anything at all. I greeted the Sheriff's Depute and he got to work. I walked around and assisted in any way I could. I left the house when both owners (mother and father) returned home.

When the Sheriff's Depute arrived, he finger printed the enterence, exits, and items.

                              This is an odd case.

1.) Burglary happened between 7am-12noon. Small window, and they had to have known the family's schedule.
2.) The living room was, for the most part, untouched. None of the expensive media was touched. Looks like burglars went through bedrooms and hallway closet mainly. They went through the drawers. They did *not* steal a handgun that was in one of the drawrs though. Odd.
3.) Mexican painters were painting the house next door and had a CLEAR view of the backyard. They claimed not to have seen anyone though. They were there since 7am.
4.) Within the last 4 months, their neighbors have also been burgaled.

I live 1/4 of a mile away. Makes me think of my own family's home security. Oddly, everyhouse around us has been burglarizaed within the last 20 years except for ours.
I know it's been 7 years but ummmm yeah it was probably #3....
There is no week nor day nor hour, when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their supreme confidence in themselves -- and lose their roughness and spirit of defiance -- Tyranny may always enter -- there is no charm, no bar against it -- the only bar against it is a large resolute breed of men.

This happened to a family member.

Neighbors noticed a suspicious car on a street one block over at the same time as the break in. They had noticed the same car a couple of times before.

The crew cased houses in the area, noticing when people were not home. They kicked in a back door. They were in and out in 5 minutes, even with the alarm blaring.

They took only small items like jewelery. Left all the big electronics, TV, and even a laptop.

Make sure your doors in the backs and sides of your houses are as kick proof as is possible. They went through the one flimsy door on the back of the house.

We updated everything we could as best as we could afterwards, with iron screen doors and such.

Your only real hope is to make your house less attractive than your neighbors.

That means alarm, dog, harder to enter doors and windows, etc.
