    My steel target

What do you gunners think of this target. I'm thinking of building these and offering them for sale. I can offer different types of targets, all of which are 3/8" AR500. The stand itself completely breaks down and can be thrown in a backpack for easily carrying down range.

Could you somehow hinge the legs?
Is the chain (on the top) welded to the rebar? Can't tell in pic, though I would say it must be. Looks like fun, but can not use it at my range.

Weld a fixture BEHIND the target to hold the bolts. That way the only thing that can go wrong is hitting the chain. Else you risk punching out the bolts and punishing yourself for a good hit on the target.

The only thing that is welded are the 2 side supports. The chain is not welded but I have been trying to figure out a way to keep the chain from moving towards the center. Where I shoot, I have to walk into a canyon and back up. It is easier for me to have this in a pack of some sort instead of lugging it over my shoulder. But If one insisted, I could weld the legs to the side but I don't think I could ship them that way. I am looking for the most portable stand around. The down side is that if you want to move it, you have to take it all apart. But once it is together it is very sturdy with very little movement side to side. As for price, I haven't got that figured out yet. I have to look at my cost and maybe add in other options like different target styles and maybe come up with some kind of pack or easy way of carrying it around.

You might want to put something in between the chains to keep it from moving around when it gets hit.

You could drill two holes on the top rod. Drill the holes on the inside of the chain's Put small Bolts and nut's to keep chain's apart.

BTW Target look's good. I like your setup.

Or use 1/2" or 3/4" pipe in between the chains cut to about a foot. Slip it over the rebar with the chain on either side of the pipe.

I was thinking of cutting a washer in half and welding it to the top of the rebar.

Ditch the chain, one hit and its toast. Been there, done that. Find some 1/4 thick or so reinforced rubber convayer belt material. Heck, even just use the tread or sidewalls of truck tires. You can shoot the hell out of them and the bullets just pass through. Untill you hit your bolts

Yup +1 that chain will get destroyed

Ditch the stand. Stands are easy to make and adds a lot of cost to shipping.

For just the plate I'd buy a few.

Weld some 1/2" or 5/8" washers on the cross bar as stops to keep the chains from moving towards the center.
