Yes, and no. When you come in from the dark, and are hit with a light, it is incredibly difficult to see. I prefer to have a light with my firearm.
That being said, I have a Remington 700 with 3" OO Buck, and a XD 9mm(with nightsights) with Federal Hollowpoints.

Yes & No also, if the intruder has a flash light and already was using it, the effect your trying to make wont make that much of a difference neither. In any case you both flash your lights at eachother.

Itll all boil down to who uses the right technique for the appropriate occasion.

I keep a Sig P229R in 40 S&W loaded with Winchester Supreme Elite 165 grain jacketed hollow points readily available when I'm home. I am considering a light and/or light/laser combo for it, but haven't made up my mind whether I want to go down that road.

Gun closet: M-1 Garand with a bandoleer of ammo

One thing I have always gone by (after it was told to me by an old Marine Gunner) is that "you use a pistol to fight your way to a rifle". so My Nagant would be used to get to my shotgun, my blackhawk will be used as I fall back to my Garand.

Ha! I've actually thought about getting either that or a warhammer (mostly because my wife would rather swing a heavy blunt object at an intruder than shoot or stab him).
