    Shooting Gloves?

    Hi all,

So lately, when I go pistol shooting, my trigger finger and the web of my hand get really sore. Is it too mall-ninja to think about using a shooting glove? I've looked at Cabela's and it seems they only have gloves for hunting, cold, or tactical. I just want something simple that will let me shoot longer.

What do you guys use, and suggest?
    Tape?
    Mechanics/home improvement gloves?
    Other?

    Thanks,
    -Puro

Wal-Mart has a good pair for around ten-bucks! They work great and prevent chafing on my hands!

i use a good ol set of batting gloves. a nice leather set keeps your hands ventilated and is thin enough not to even notice they're on

Mechanix gloves are nice and simple. Look into those.

A long, long time ago when I used to shoot varmint pistols I used bicyle gloves with no fingers and sorbothane palms. They worked pretty well to cushion recoil. As for the trigger, you might look at seeing if you have sharp edges on the trigger and breaking them and rounding them off. Don't know what kind of gun you have, but rounding the trigger should be something you can do with some emery cloth (shoe shine style, being careful to tape up the trigger guard to protect it from scratching or remove the trigger if you know how) using progressively finer grits with a dab of oil down to about 1500 or 2000 to get a nice polish and then cold blue if it's not stainless. Don't grind the trigger to nothing, just break the edge. If you are nervous, a gunsmith probably won't charge much and could do it in a few minutes of time.

Nice timing on the post! I spent some time today "e-shopping" and came up with what's been posted above, bike gloves.

Seems there's some higher tech stuff out now. Super thick hand web area double padding, gel padding and the like.

I didn't e-buy today, I"ll drive down the road to the local high end bike store to see what they stock. It would seem these type of gloves would be exactly what's called for.

My ruger lcr is just hitting so hard with the rounds I bought (+P) and heavy...maybe I'm a baby but I know I"m not wincing before pulling the trigger. I did a bulk buy (600 rounds) so I gotta come up with something.

                  here's where I was looking: http://www.aerotechdesigns.com/gloves.htm

                          +1.

i use the mechanix Original, Original Vent, Original 0.5 and Original Grip gloves, just depends on the conditions.

they work great, and at about $22, are very reasonably priced for what you get.

In my experience with gloves mechanix work good but the fingers are sewn causing you to loose dexterity. You might have a problem loading or loose some feel in the trigger. As stated above golf gloves as well as most batting gloves will work well. Do not worry about what other people think about you wearing gloves. When you shoot better than them they will all be asking you what kind of gloves YOU wear.
