Mostly, it's my new Kimber Ultra Covert II. The new trigger is really harsh as I'm trying to break in that little .45 3" 1911. Then, once I'm sore on that one, my .40 M&P actually feels "nice"

Actually, the Kimber hurts my trigger finger, and the M&P wears on the web of my hand eventually.

At least I can hit center mass on each....but again, I want to extend my practice sessions.

Thanks for all the great tips.

I wore the Mechanix wear gloves in the military and they work well.

However, if you are planning on carrying the Kimber Covert for CCW or self defense (after all, why else would you get a 3 inch barreled 1911) then I would not wear any gloves to practice with it. Chances are you wont get a chance to put on your gloves if you really need it. Fight like you train and train like you fight

When you shoot better than them they will all be asking you what kind of gloves YOU wear.
nothing an exacto knife and sewing kit can't fix.

I tailor down my gloves anyways since I have nubby thumbs and pinkies. A tailored glove fits better than any glove.

Right when I was gonna jokingly recommend a pair of motorcycle gauntlets. :thud:

Very true. That would work just fine. In my case I usually wear gloves in the summer only because my hands will sweat and I do not like to handle my mags and gun with sweaty hands. In my situation if I cut the fingers out I would still worry about getting sweat on the gun in turn getting rust. For the OP cutting the fingers off would work just fine.

What do you think a military/duty glove is anyways? The biggest difference with a true military/duty glove is probably going to be in flame retardation.

Anyways, I don't ride anymore so what better use for an old pair of gloves. If you really want to be a jerk, find me at a range and laugh. I'll be the one with black Alpinestars that have the same cut and profile of the Oakley SI glove.
The damn Oakley SI glove came from their mountain biking line anyways so the Alpinestar is just the same to me.

i dont think gloves are mall ninja.... i use woodland camo mechanix gloves... they are designed for impact gun use, so it good for shock absorbing....i lucked out and got them free from my old job.. but they run like $40 but they regular gloves run like $20

Sailing gloves work very well. Extremely rugged for handling rope.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

Mechanix are comfortable. My friend recently got me some Oakley FR gloves... they are quite nice....

I've had good results using flight gloves, bicycle gloves, and a pair of thin leather gloves.

Basically, anything that's thin and durable, or fingerless and durable.

When I was doing my crimp creep testing, I used PAST shooting gloves. They made a huge difference. I can't imagine shooting over 1000 full house .454 Casull loads in a 40-ounce gun without some kind of glove. They were also indispensable when I was testing the S&W 629PD (though that gun still sucked to shoot).
