Range etiquette - flying shell casings into next lane

I hate wearing hats, besides it actually makes me laugh. I don't know why but it cracks me up. Well except the time the casing sat between by glasses and head, that wasn't so funny well maybe a little

So the guy with the 9mil can hold his gun just right and his shells clear the partition, rain down in my stall thinking he's oh so clever...Then I just breakout a braked rifle and make sure the shock wave goes in his stall and send him a packin'. Next time I'll just put some cardboard up there so it'll rain back in his stall.

I been on both sides, my SKS is crazy with brass ejection. I usually just acknowledge that I am hitting somebody. I look over give them a quick "I am sorry" simple as that. 99.99% of the time it turns into smiles amongst both parties.

If you are really into precision shooting, that’s awesome and I respect. But perhaps you need to find a more private sanctuary for your practice. Or perhaps take a day off from work and go to the range on Tuesday or Weds. when it is not so crowded, If it’s that serious to you? Usually people who take skiing seriously usually go on Tuesdays –Thursday for the best snow.

Some riffles are meant to taken serious (high end sniper) some are meant for fun (sks). Believe me it's more painful to bump my .30-06 avg price of $20.00 for box of 20 or my SKS where the avg. price is $4-$7. Some rifles cost $3k and above some cost $300.00.
Just remember a deer, enemy, etc... usually doesn't stay still while you adjust wind, angle, set your tripod, layout some sandbags, so on son. Sometimes rapid fire can really fine tune some ones shooting.

Above all, just remember it's called "public" for a reason. I am sure you don't feel as comfy taking a #2 at a ballgame as you would in your own home. It sucks, but sometimes you have no choice.

I once witnesses some swat guy empty his MP5 on full auto and have all that brass go over the partition and basically shower a guy and his little son on the other side. They pretty much left. I think he was teaching his son to shoot.

You know, it's these black and white answers that are a bit annoying. Don't like the sun? Wear sunscreen - get an umbrella - and then go to the beach.

Same with shooting. Don't like the noise? Double up on earplugs and earmuffs. Don't like getting hit with brass? Move, give the guy a brass catcher, set up a net or barrier, or have a nice chat with the guy. All of this could work.

Life doesn't have to be all or nothing.. there are many shades of grey.

I find your hum-drum attitude disrespectful (and not mention, a real nuisance). If you have a problem with people having fun at the range, then too bad, you should probably find a different place to to shoot.

I've been on both ends of a brass shower. Most of the time, I'm apologetic about it, and the other party simply smiles and waits for me to empty a mag or otherwise stop shooting momentarily. It's akin to the ettiquette at a bowling alley. Normally it's bad form to bowl when someone in the lane next to you is preparing to do the same. You wait till he's finished, then you go.

I'm fairly new to shooting at a range, and just had this happen on my last trip. I was shooting one of my old Finnish M1891s and some guy with an AR setup at the bench next to me. I was just aiming on the target when I get hit in the side of the head and when I looked up to see WTF I got hit in the forehead. Then I looked left and right and there were 6 empty benches each direction... oh well. I ended up grabbing a screen and hanging it between us and I was trying to figure out if he was just rude or clueless, or both?

I was really glad there was no one at the range when I went last time, it was the first range trip for the PSL. Steel casings flew about 15-20 feet to my 4 o'clock into the parking lot. If there had been a car in that stall I would have been buying someone a new windshield.

I need a brass catcher!

Only 1 rule. If the range has screens available you should use them if it will be an issue.
