To me, these clowns sound kind of "mall ninjaish". I doubt they could organize a car wreck on a slick street.

I couldnt agree more. You dont hear on the News reporting, "There was a high tech thief last night, the owners couldnt call to the police because the robbers had signal jammed their cellphones and dropped a EMP deceive disabling all electrical communication..."

They sound like a bunch of my old "friends" waaay back in middle school talking about how their going to fight, how their going to kick the guy in the nuts, then the guy is going to kneal down giving my "friend" the chance to uppercut the guy in the face and while he's falling back the my "friend" will finish him off with a forward kick to the chest.....then when the real fight came, my "friend" was getting stomped on the ground with his hands covering his face from the other guys shoes...lol. (He wasnt my friend, just a guy who talked alot)

I highly doubt most criminals are even close to reading this stuff. Most of these guys are just talkin trash. But it's still heck of spooky knowing that these depressed angsty kids are literally trying to come up with these ideas.

I read sacpd.org's daily activity log - most breaks ins they have are total junkies.

The HD question has been beaten to death, I'm sure reading the stuff in that forum is more interesting. After looking through Rorta I vote for a "Physical & Sexual: Discuss the human body in all it's glory and human sexuality from all it's aspects." to added as a sub-forum for the "off-topic forum". With topics like "How far would you go to get laid" and "Getting with a girl" it's bound to be a hit.

Well - I'm sure HD has been beaten to death - although it's a forum so topics tend to get buried and then come up again. New people come into them as well. It's kind of pointless to just ay - ah it's been covered before. Hasn't everything?

Luckily, I'm a pretty light sleeper and wake up at the drop of a pin. It's like sleeping with one eye open. Big dogs also help. If anyone were to break in my house, they'd be f'd.

Same here on the dogs and light sleeper. Its a blessing and a curse tho. I've gotten out of bed at the sound of something outside, laid there heart pounding for another noise and i'll get either another "bump in the night" noise or my motion light ( aimed low, no crawling ) will trip and im up, butt naked with Ole Trusty moving towards the sound's origin...


Its usually a skunk or neighbors cat - but regardless of "what it usually is" - the adrenaline is surging and i "just have to make sure"


One specific time i couldn't identify the sound, and we live on the edge of a popular park ( to both citizens and drug dealers ) and literally paced the house for about 45min before laying back down and falling asleep again 2hrs later.

blessing and a curse. Id imagine it be even more severe if / when i have children.

I wasn't saying not to discuss it, I'm merely pointing out that discussion of the other forum is probably the direction the thread is going. But I'll participate in the OP's question. My HD is my Canine Early Warning System will alert me to anyone but my wife and I coming near the house. I have a Shelti-X that will bark her fool head off me when someone pulls into the driveway. Grab the Storm if something is fishy, during the day. At night I've got the same CEWS to wake me up and grab said Storm... the Wife can grab the AR she's more confident in the skills with the rifle over the .40. They would have to breach the door like a SWAT team to get the jump on me.

While my first thought was that the vast majority of on the forum are nerdy little teenage kids vs. "true criminals" (i.e.: I seriously doubt the common methhead is on a nerdy forum discussing the finer points of home invasions), some of the other scams here really do piss me off.

Whomever is desperate enough to get in a car with a complete stranger vs. taking Greyhound (or a train or whatever the next cheapest mass transit route to xxx place is) probably can't afford to lose his share of the gas money to some little **** who was supposed to give them a ride to xxxx.

Some of these folks just need a boot up their bum.

there are some sick and depraved people in the world. Which is why I'm glad I own a gun. I'll never forget how good it felt to have my first gun. I was terrified of it - because I'd never even shot one before getting it. But knowing I can take care of myself just really helps me feel better about the world.

That kid with the knife comment had obviously just finished watching dark knight. There's another kid in there with the quote, some men just want to watch the world burn. I hope the perp that breaks into my house chooses a knife over a gun and then we'll see whose squirming.

ive seen that forum before. complete b.s. anyway. my hd consists of a few things. first is 3 small, loud, curious dogs. that bark at everything. including the wind. second is a very good and redundant home alarm with a battery backup system that will run for 24hrs on batts alone. third is a very good situational awareness level of my home. when we are home. the doors are locked. always. every night the windows and doors get double checked. and the alarm gets armed. fourth is 100% of the time when we sleep there is a loaded gun on the night stand. and i would say that 90% of all other time there is a loaded gun either on me or next to me. even when i take a shower my pistol goes into the bathroom with me and is placed in a ready state in case something goes down while im in there. and after all this i still dont think im obsessive about it. just dedicated to protecting my family. bring on the bg's.
