    HD THREAD

found a scary forum the other day rorta.net. it's an online community of criminals. The topics on the forums range from drugs to prostitution, phreaking, phishing, and various other scams.

The one that scared me the most was a thead on home invasion.

they mentioned using cell phone jammers when breaking a house to keep people from being able to call the cops and taking out the dominate male first.

It's super scary that there is a place like this for these idiots to trade ideas off each other.

What is your plan for home defense? For instance I keep guns in my room when I'm sleeping but what if you wake up and he's IN your room? I keep pepper spray and a knife in bed with me in case of that happening. my gun is close but if someone was on top of me i wouldn't be able to reach it from bed.

I've thought about getting a couple small handguns and hiding them inside coffee cans or other innocent looking containers throughout the house just in case I'm not in my gun room.

Also considered keeping a shotgun outside in a concealed area (shed or in a hidden compartment inside of a fence or wall) - in case I came home and someone was already inside harming my wife.

any other home defense/protection tips or ideas?

I need to make sure all my windows cannot be slid open and block them with a wood dowel if they can be.

Wow - I haven't looked up that site yet but scary stuff!

Suffice to say someone breaking in to my house will get a little more than pepper spray......lol

I think it's a mindset of situational awareness...do you check all windows and doors each night before bed? All of them?

    - Do you have a weapon or weapons loaded and accessible to you at all times while also having it concealed or secured enough so that kids or guests can't get at them?

    - Are you bringing enough firepower to the fight...if your home defense tools are pepper spray and a knife I think you're drastically under armed.

    - Lastly...is your wife / gf / partner in on the plan? Does she know where the weapon is and what to do with it should a situation occurs?

We don't take prisoners here. I am skilled enough with a firearm to disable an attacker (when calm...no ideas as to what I'd be like in a real situation). My wife on the other hand.....I've quite simply told her that if there is an intruder inside the house you shoot him and keep shooting until the bastard is dead and then plug him a few more times just to make sure.

I don't care what the law says, I don't care what the repercussions are. If you are in my house it's game over.

Also, I should point out a little bit of mindset...I am of Sicilian descent (parents). One of the things we as a culture really fear is reprisals. If you do a home invasion at my house, and I catch you, and call the cops, and you get taken away, what's to say you don't come back and finish the job at some later date?

Not advocating a thing on that one, but it is a fear of mine for sure.

Because those bad people will be told by the law that they are not to do anything like that ever again. And, of course, they will listen to the law because they are just misplaced souls looking for an authority figure to lead them down the right path in life.

Great quotes from some the posters quite simply proves the validity of firearms in the home for defense... The top one speaking is in Britain....

'm not sure this is such a great idea in somewhere like North America. It was actually a surprise to find out some people there set their alarm at night, or maybe they just alarm the exterior. On top of that, you've all got guns there.
That happened to someone I know. They came downstairs in the morning and their tv and stereo were missing. But your right about watching out for gun owners.

To me, these clowns sound kind of "mall ninjaish". I doubt they could organize a car wreck on a slick street.

I have guns - but not in bed with me. My fear is waking up with someone on top of the bed trying to get at me or the wife. I wouldn't be able to reach the gun - probably have limited mobility. However i could reach my knife or pepper spray which would then allow me to get the gun once I can move again.

I don't have kids, it's just me and my wife and we sleep in our room with the door closed and locked. If I heard someone in the house I'd call the cops first and stay quiet. I hope I don't ever have to shoot someone but if they tried to get through that door I'd probably have to.

I've thought about the reprisals thing, but I don't think it's too likely to happen. I mean the guys breaking into your house are from out of town usually or don't know the area that well and it's not like they wrote your address down - although it could be in the police report. They'll probably be in jail for a year or longer depending on how many they've done.

I'd like to have a gun in every room... Right now i have one handgun, a 10/22 and an 870. I def need more guns. If my phone didn't work... I don't know that I'd be able to call those bgs an ambulance in time..

So the perps could have an arsenal on them by the time they made it to your bedroom?

If it's just you and the wife sleep with a revolver on the night stand. Why would your bedroom door be locked? So a potential burglar could break into another part of your home without you knowing it because your bedroom door is shut?

My bedroom door blocks out a lot of noise when it's shut......noise I want to hear in the middle of the night!

Just checked out that link. Scary stuff.

I keep a handgun close by in condition 3 and after reading that thread maybe now I'll keep it in condition 1. Any one of those scumbags break into my house they better be prepared to meet their maker.

There has to be law enforcement monitoring that forum.

Luckily, I'm a pretty light sleeper and wake up at the drop of a pin. It's like sleeping with one eye open. Big dogs also help. If anyone were to break in my house, they'd be f'd.

I think he's right. Its pretty funny reading this stuff. It sounds like a lot of douche bags and kids. This is one of my favorites (writer obviously just got finished watching the Dark Knight and has actually never seen a real gun in person)...

                          "Guns vs. Knife
                          Personally, I'm a knives man.
Although both are easily accesible, I prefer the feeling of a knife in my hand.
There is nothing more fun than watching someone squirm in terror from the glint of a knife. Besides, Knife kills are slower, more personal. Guns are too loud, and obnoxious. There's no feeling in them. They don't give the victim the last moments before they die like a knife does.

Obviously, choose the right weapon for the right job. If your facing multiple hostiles, or you need to remove someone from 1200 yards away, whip out the steel.

                          But anyways, your preference?"

I have window locks in my bedroom but I worry that having a gun out on my dresser would give them time to grab it before I wake up if they got through my window.

I sleep with the door locked because I don't have anything outside of that room that I care about at night. All my guns and my wife are in that room. If someone wants to come in and take my TV so be it. They can have it. I'm not going out there guns blazing to kill a teenager or a hobo over a TV or a laptop. If I had kids, I'd keep the door open because I'd want to make sure nobody was trying to harm my kids.

If you ever wikipedia the east area rapist/ the orignal nightstalker (a serial killer that struck A LOT of times in CA) it will scare the crap out of you. I don't see how antis read about this stuff and are still opposed to guns.
