https://www.consolevault.com/product...cle-Vaults.phpHave you guys seen these? They appear to be a direct fit, no major modifications. I think they are pretty cool, nice and discreet. I might get one just to lock stuff up like a garage door opener, registration, ect if I park in a crime infested area like Sacramento River boat launches. It would definatley fit a handgun or two if need be.

Sorry if my question is sort've off topic of if it's a thread jack but I don't want to make a new thread for it so here I go...

If I'm transporting my firearm in the vehicle and need to park it somewhere and run errands, but don't want to leave the firearm in the car, can I carry it unloaded and locked in my backpack as long as the places of business don't have a firearm restriction?
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

How would you know if the establishment has no firearm restriction? Some or most place of business do not have to post a sign for firearm restrictions.

          I wouldn't. But unless it's posted somewhere or if it's a bar or something, I don't think it'd be a problem.

Booze and firearm are never a good combination. In my opinion, I wouldnt deviate, I'll drop them off at home, locked them in my safe and then headed back out to run my errands.

                Nope.

It simply can't be "loaded" into the gun.
The mags can be loaded, and the mags can be "in contact" with the gun, but not inserted into the frame.

Thanks for the link, I was looking for that. Noticed that that setup is also on the CA DOJ's Roster of Approved Firearms Safety Devices.

The link under the video "How far must a locked container be from the driver?" opens up a Calguns thread from last year.

If you want to piss off a liberal and help a conservative, ship a gun to California.

They sell one like that custom for Jeeps, but I think that would fit into the definition of a utility console or glove box.

Correct, but for safety's sake I would keep them in separate containers. Only the firearm needs to be locked, the ammo does not.

Also, regarding the lock case or not: you do NOT have to lock a case up (except for handguns and RAWs, they must be locked always) except when knowingly entering a school zone, however to avoid hassle from LEOs who may not know the law and for security you should keep it locked.

Let them know early in the stop. Get out of your car and yell "I've got a gun!" Repeat it a few times so you can be sure the officer understands you.

Yep. Get one that has a key lock. You will find that is a much smoother entry than a combination lock. A key can be inserted in the dark or in rain or whatever. A biometric lock may be faster but may not work if you got too much hand cream and seems to give the impression that there is an intent to enter quickly.
No State law requiring to inform officer, but some jurisdictions have local code to the contrary. It is your judgement on this one.

                          Safe travels and happy trails!

I was curious as to whther you have to prove you were on en route to or from a range or something... i asked this question before and i kind of remember someone posting some legal lawyer talk saying you had to be on your way to or home from a range or gunstore or something...

If you are carrying a firearm, simply ask the officer under what statute he is required to know that information. Unless he has RAS to search you, he doesn't need to know whether or not you have a firearm in the vehicle.
