Might as well have a smoke while it makes it's way to target

Last year, my sister in law called us and said her neighbor was just shot in the back of the neck by a 45acp. Some losers did a drive by and he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Anyways, my sis in law and her hubby took him in and they could see the 45 slug still embedded into the back of his neck, half the bullet was sticking out and the round was already mushroomed. I saw the kid last night and you could still see and feel the bullet in his neck. Most would have thought he would be paralyzed or dead but lucky kid lived and is fine. I always hear stories about how 9mm is not a great round and how a 45 would have done the job right.. It dont matter what it is!

Yeah!!! And you'd figure, with all that pain shooting (no pun intended) through his mug, he would just raise the piece to his temple and just 'stop' everything!!!

No you can't! 900 fps is not "visible."

He should have used a 10mm

These topics crack me up. Every now and then we get an piece of information about someone getting killed by a rimfire and/or surviving getting shot by a large caliber round. Everyone seems to agree unanimously that shot placement is more important that cartridge size. Then a bit later the stopping power myth comes back in a few threads. Usually it is the 5.56mm vs 7.62x39, 5.45x39, 6.8SPC, or 6.5 grendel. And sometimes it is the 9mm vs 45. And the circle continues.

It does help to have the sun at your back and be behind the bullet though.
I have yet to see one coming at me or from the side.

I had a call where a guy shot himself in the leg (calf) with a colt 1911 while trying to unload it in his buddies truck before hitting the pavement. entry and exit holes looked the same size. luckily he missed the bone and it was a clean muscle shot with a FMJ. he then proceeded to fill TWO, 1 gallon biohazard bags with beer that had previously occupied his stomach. Not fun.

You just see the base of the bullet climb up a couple inches and then back down to where it lands on the target.
