"Just leave me alone, I know what to do." - Kimi Raikkonen
The moment the idea is admitted into society, that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.' and that `Property is surely a right of mankind as real as liberty.'

You might just be right, I took care of a guy who actually put the gun in his mouth with the barrel pointing upward and blew the front of his face off. He ended up surviving, and he told me that he's a born-again Christian and loves life now. Despite all the pain and disfigurement (he's had dozens of surgeries and still his face looks really awful), he's so glad to have survived. I never would've guessed it, but people sometimes really do turn their lives around after events like this.Comment

Last Friday night we got a 24 year old male that decided he was going to end his life with a .45 to the head. He placed the gun to the bottom of his jaw, aiming up, and pulled the trigger. He was about 1 inch too far to the left and blasted a golf ball sized hole through his chin and OUT his mouth. I wish there were no HIPPA/confidentiality laws and I could post up some pics from his chart, but there are so I can't. It was an amazing wound, the bullet ripped a hole through his jaw and took away a lot of tissue, bone, and teeth.
Now for the weird part, he never lost concsiousness, and came in yelling and screaming at everyone to go away and let him die!
He seemed pretty unimpressed with the .45's stopping power. His tox screen was negative, and he only had a small amount of alcohol on board.
I know many people in the gun world think that the .45 acp is a death ray and that any hit from it is a fight stopper, however this shooting shows me that it is still "just" a handgun round and not final word in stopping power.
Be safe,
Peter
I use fragmenting rounds , RBCD everyone calls it snail oil rounds.
I am sure it does not do what the company claims, but I have chronographed it at over 2000fps at 90gr it's almost like getting hit by I rifle round. There are sniper everywhere and nowhere.....who knows what is out there.

The post was not to put down the .45 acp. Although I do get sick of hearing all the urban legend FUD that has been spread about the round. I just wanted to share a pretty interesting gun related event from work. Looking at the wound, he pretty obviously flinched, if he had not he would have succeded without a doubt. The entry wound was literally bigger than the size of a golf ball. The other real world shooting results that I see every so often is the 12 ga. #7 or #8 bird shot vs. bad guy. Even a dead center chest shot is not a fight stopper beyond about 8 feet. Keep #4 or bigger in your HD shotguns people!
Peter
I would hate to test your .50 BMG theory!
