1911 vs. Glock wars! Which one is better!

THis is an interesting discussion, but to compare a BRAND name w/ completely different style of a product is like comparing a Mercedes SUV w/ a Toyota Prius. Each has it's advantages/disadvantages. Personally for general shooting & competition, I prefer a 1911 Para. Don't own a Glock, have shoot less than 100 rounds through a few different models. If I had to carry a CCW, it would be my S&W J frame.
Impressive pics/videos on the Glock tho.
I saw a Glock this weekend do this...(see pic)Last edited by bruceflinch; 10-24-2009, 7:03 PM.Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.
Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

Apples to oranges man. Nothing will ever compare to a 1911 as far as a great manufactured pistol with gobs of history, and nothing will compare to a glock as far as drag through the mud reliability with the sake of some accuracy lost. Both absolutely fine weapons for their intentions. Both capable of being made into tack drivers and both utterly dependable depending on what you get.Comment

I'm not a Koolaid drinker and I would take the Glock over the 1911 in a heartbeat! Glock wins this contest!
1911 is a proven firearm with over one hundred years of history. Although, there are many variations on the market today the design is time tested to be a great weapon!
Glocks are made of polymer plastic and although light in weight they are not made nearly as well as a Kimber 1911! I currently have have a Warrior 2 and it is a phenomenal gun!
I would take it over a Glock any day! Just my personal opinion!
What say you all?

I think it is safe to say if shtf most people hear pick a glock but that doesn't mean we don't like 1911s. 1911s is a different tool for a different job.Originally posted by 69Mach1The virgin requires more work (don't they all

Yup you got it.. properly built. A lot of 1911s require some minor tweaking out of the box. Some can't shoot hp either.
Glocks are ready to rock out of the box.Originally posted by 69Mach1The virgin requires more work (don't they all

Generally speaking, yes. But high end 1911's are ready to rock from the box as well, generally speaking. The difference is in cost.Comment
