1911 vs. Glock wars! Which one is better!

You have been trying to derail this thread for 25 pages starting with this post. Maybe you should look at yourself for once before calling other people names.
How can you compare the 1911 to a glock? Okay so you are going to compare a 1911 price range anywhere from $300-$2000+ to a Glock $700MAX.
This topic as you admitted already is beating a dead horse. You cannot compare a $2000 gun to a $700 gun. Well yes you can but is it really fair? We might as well start a 9mm vs. 40 vs. 45acp thread.
Plus "better" is all in the eye of the beholder. I can say oh a 1911 is better for xyz reasons. Another person will say a Glock is better for abc reasons why.Comment

Now that I've shot Glocks and 1911's and have been to some competitions I can say this.
Out of all the guns I've rented and seen shoot the past month the only ones that didn't have any issues were the Glocks and XD's.
Now, I love my 1911 for what it is, but now that I'm drinking the Glock-Aid I can't falter from the path of righteousness.OCSD Approved CCW Instructor

I have both. I shoot the glocks more often. I believe it comes down to a capacity thing for me. I was lucky enough to buy glocks when they came with the higher capacity magazines. Since the 10 round limits have been here in CA I believe the comparisons of the 1911 vs the polymers are close. 7-8 rounds of 45 vs. 10 rounds of 9 or 40 are close. But...
17 rounds of 9mm is hard to beat in ANY polymer frame. Since the 9 has better self defense ammo now...Star Fire JHP are excellent. But...I prefer 13 rounds of 40 in a Glock 23 of Star Fire JHP's with a couple extra 13 rounders just in case.
I love the 1911, but when a crash or bump in the nite happens it is the Rem 870 with a Glock 23 I will bring to the party. Mostly the 23 because of the 13 rounds. Hopefully the 8 rounds of 12 GA will be enough.
I know you must be accurate, but I am not that good of a shot to see any difference between the 1911 and the glock...I shoot 3-5 inch groups at 10 yards, which is accurate enough for me for personal defense.
If I get into shooting more accurately with a handgun maybe I will prefer my 1911? For now Glock is my choice, but a 1911 wouldn't be a bad choice either IMO.
I am happy we have choices in the USA, for now at least, IMO buy a Glock, 1911, SIG, XD, and the others...support the cause, they all are great in one way or another. If the future is looking dark...WE'RE THE ONES WHO HAVE TO SHINE...If there's no one in control...WE'RE THE ONES WHO DRAW THE LINE...Though we live in trying times...WE'RE THE ONES WHO HAVE TO TRY...Though we know that time has wings...WE'RE THE ONES WHO HAVE TO FLY...by Neil Peart "Everyday Glory"

I like both types, but like today the guy next to me at the range had a full assortment but told the guy he was with that his 1911 was his favorite, 3 of the next 3 shots were stove pipes from a really nice looking operator, he said something like I don't know why it's jamming and something about how the guy was shooting it ? wtf don't you just pull the trigger ? anyway I think 1911 have very unrealistic owners many times. It's a 100 year old designed tool, of course they have made better ones and I would trust my life with a glock from experience.
I own several and have shot so many more that I can say it's a great tool. That's it's purpose like a honda transportation and reliability is primary looks are secondary.
Now for shooting for fun ect, well they don't make too many glocks with personality nd flair like this one for instance.
