I generally won't respond to new users with zero ratings when selling a gun on the marketplace. I've been flaked on more times than I can count. I also won't inquire about a gun for sale if the seller is new with zero ratings.

This. I pretty much ignore new members when selling. Way too flaky. 1000’s of questions they could have researched themselves. Etc.

Keep trying or post to become a CalGuns contributor. Scammers rarely spend money on memberships. I give fellow contributors and high itrader rating members preference when selling.

Start a couple threads in the off topic section. Contribute to discussion and you have a better chance than just showing up as a new member with zero credibility in the marketplace

My bit of advise when using the marketplace is be short and to the point in your first contact with a seller.

Example:

Strakill - H&K USP 45, used in great condition, 200 rounds down the pipe, $8 billion dollars, located in Broad street homeless encampment, Los Angeles


KAMIKAZE777MMA - Hi strakill, I'm interested in your USP you have listed. Would it be possible to haggle the price down by $.50? If so I can pay you with whatever payment method you prefer. Thank you.

Not just that, your first post was 2 days ago and you are expecting lightning fast responses to your WTB and your PMs. There are days that people dont log in, life gets in the way, internet is down, etc. There have been deals where I messaged a seller and it took 4 days for them to reply, Sale went great.

For credibility you can start by posting in the introduction section, filling out your profile, adding a general location and adding points to current discussions or asking questions. With how impatient you are seeming with your posts, it makes it seem like dealing with you would be a bigger hassle then most want to deal with.

As Skyhawk mentioned, if an ad specifically states a requirement for purchase and you ignore it, chances are you will be treated as a flake/scammer.

I am a new user, not a scam artist. I live in southern California in the inland empire. I am writing this, as so far, i have had nothing but scam artists respond to my inquiries and have been completely ignored by any of the "top ranked" users. Is there something I am missing on getting an actual human response? Does anyone actually sell items here? I cant even get a response from anyone, let alone purchase. No I have not even sent a "Lowball offer" no i didn't ask strange questions. I made it very clear i am not a scammer and want to purchase their pistol and did all the proper etiquette. I sent my contact number, name, asked for ffl preference etc. Does this site really work or is it as bad as it appears so far. Any good advice would be appreciated.

Post something in the Want To Buy section and see what happens. You'll get a few spam messages within the day. That's just the nature of the site right now. Lots of fake accounts. Keep posting and be an active member, get some posts under your belt, and people will start to recognize you. Keep at it.

I think join date and post count are more important than iTrader score, look at me I have a 0 on iTrader but I've done plenty of deals with members over the years.
