Sucks to say it but I’m leery of new members with zero feedback as well, and that was me only two and a half years ago.

What I did was reach out to a few members selling things like magazines, holsters, etc. used those sales to give me a few iTrader ratings. When I was interested in a firearm someone had for sale I would mention my great iTrader rating and I was a serious buyer, gave them my location and a few recommendations of FFLs we could meet at if they didn’t have one in mind already.

If you’re looking for a specific firearm I’ve also had really good luck a couple times playing WTB listings for exactly what I was looking for.

      OP:

Buy a few low cost items and establish some Marketplace "cred".
      FTF if possible.

Ask seller for an iTrader rating assuming the deal goes well.

As stated several times, there have been a large number of scammers that recently joined with near zero posts.

Not your fault most likely unless you cut the price to what the seller thinks is a lowball offer even if you thought it was a reasonable offer.
Some sellers will not reply if you do not match their price.

Some members will just plain not deal with new unestablished members.

      Good luck.

Nobody wants a kamikaze in their inbox. Also, if you just joined to buy/sell, then it’ll take a while for you to establish yourself. Introduce yourself, participate in other non-sale forums rather than just coming here and using it like CL. We have enough of that.

Not to sound harsh but I can see why some members may ignore you. Albeit, based on what you stated, you’d likely get a reply from me, thought I would with caution until transaction is finalized.

4 posts - I would most likely avoid as there are a Bah- Zillion cheap folks out there and scammers.

You gotta stop telling them you're not a scammer. I understand you're trying to make it clear that you're not a scammer, but even reading your post gave me those vibes.

Just keep trying, let them know you're interested, you're new, and wanted to see what the next steps would be, like what their schedule is, where would they like to meet, and give them your number if they would like to text/talk or keep it in PM to keep a record for the mods.

                Good luck.

If you know some folks who have been on for 6 months or more and post- ask them to jump in and vouch for you. Not perfect, but any cred you can garner at first helps. Oh- and support the forum; https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/payments.php

G/L and welcome- you'll not find as much knowledge or buyers/sellers as at the one calguns.net!

What gets my attention for the wrong reasons is someone who has 2-3 posts and no sales or purchases, just joined CG, and responds to my post by asking me to call them. Not good.

                      1) Read a posting several times before doing anything. If someone says they will only sell a minimum of two guns, DO NOT post in their thread saying you are interested in only one gun. <--- You did that at least once already

Realize that sellers get many messages about guns for sale here. Scammers, tire kickers, traders/swappers, low ballers, even "sales agents" all pile in. You have to be compelling and convincing with your first contact, and your first contact needs to convey "I want this gun right now and I will make it very easy for you to sell it to me for the price you are asking".

The good news: as your iTrader feedback grows here, it becomes much easier to negotiate terms and get priority handling or cut to the front of the line.

Also, I do not suggest you buy a gun from a private party unless you have been buying guns from dealers and you know that your transfer will go smooth and be approved.

Who is this and why are you talking to me? But really, I had 0 posts and no feedback when I started and bought an M1 Carbine on CGN.

Now I don't want feedback and wear a tin foil hat.

I met some cool folks and did CMP matches here on base with a few. Gotta start somewhere.

As others have already stated, give it a few weeks, post thoughtful questions and answers in the forum.

2 and a half years ago I was in your shoes, new to the Forum and ZERO for an iTrader score, someone took a chance on me and we made a sale.

                            It'll happen just be patient.

                            1. Treat all guns as if loaded (even when you know they aren't).
                            2. Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy.
                            3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
                            4. Know your target and what is beyond it (avoid all collateral damage).
