Once things became "issues that affect my happiness", I decided to move. Maybe you should consider doing the same. Who would want to go on living some where they are not happy?

I understand where Notabiker is coming from. My gun flame went to smoulder when they closed the LA county open shooting areas in the ‘90s. Especially when they forced out the San Gabriel Valley gun club ( AKA Fish Canyon). Not to mention closing the Pomona Gun Shows..Damn , now I’m P.Od on Christmas Eve… the commies are chipping away. Switching gears, You guys enjoy your holidays!Comment

I ask myself where my family could I move to and I haven't found it.
I even made a spreadsheet for taxes, home prices, culture, crime, weather, proximity to ocean, etc., and no US state jump out ahead. Every one has a compromise!Comment

I always tell the boomers when they get in a slump like this to look at the kids and pass on the knowledge you have that's impossible to gain overnight. Kids are better than adults because if they don't listen to you you can yell at them and a fight won't break out!One life so don't blow it......Always die with your boots on!Comment

At 74 years old i changed the way i will live the rest of my life. After the nov 2020 overthrow of our country by the left i no longer watch ANY news ZERO.
i was born free and i will die free.
I try to live in the past as much as possible.
Each day i kiss my wife of 53 years ,got married on a 3 day pass before NAM and tell her she is beautyful. pet the cats, tinker with my 2004 harley sportster and keep in touch with famely and friends who think like i do.
Covid never scared me because i am not willing to alter my freedom because some jack *** says i deed to.I did get the shots but i only put the mask on in a store that asks me to.Going to a motorcycle swap meet Sunday with thousands of other maskless people and have a good time.
When my dad was 75 years old he told me he did not feel part of the country anymore. that is how i also feel now
See you at the baracades for a last stand. Lets rollComment

OP, I hope the fun of shooting comes back for you.
If only tin-can plinkin' with a nifty old Marlin 39A and standard velocity .22LR...
Or .38, .38 +P or .357 from a Marlin 1894...
Two of the most fun long guns and chamberings in history. Most fun you can have with yer pants on! without risking life and limb turning 7-minute laps on the Nordschliefe, that is.

Ugh, this site is turning into facebook with the "I no longer enjoy shooting and I'm better than you cause I think there's more to life than shooting" public announcements.
Like when someone quits facebook and feels the need to post a long-winded announcement about it.Comment

You outlined the situation very well. On a positive, we have 34 state governments. Trump is back in a big way. They got nothing, as a result they are baiting us to do stupid things to have a propaganda issue. 1-6 has worn thin and been exposed to all but the stupidest people. Kash Patel has proof Trump offered 10 to 20,000 guard troops and Pelosi rejected them ,in order for provocateurs to breach the capitol. At 74 years old i changed the way i will live the rest of my life. After the nov 2020 overthrow of our country by the left i no longer watch ANY news ZERO.

Trump is forming a new type social app and we are winning .
Hang on this could be lots of fun watching the democrat's and their Xhit media come undone.

I think that's the crux of it. We all have a different emphasis in terms of firearms and using them. As with many things, there comes a point where something 'new' is needed to reinvigorate the interest/passion.
For some, it's a new firearm. For others, it's a new type of ammunition. For still others, it can be reloading or hunting (maybe something 'new' in terms of the type of game to pursue). Perhaps it's teaching the kids or grandkids or great grandkids to shoot. Something...
The 'fun' is in pursuing the challenge(s) you select for yourself, not necessarily your 'mastery' of those challenge(s).
If...
Then it's time to find a way to take it back...

As we age our interests wane and ebb so I wouldn't toss your fondness for shooting/collecting away, just put it on a shelf so to speak. Perhaps take a trip to a free state to rekindle your firearm interest? My guns are no longer a hobbie. i only have them now for protection. The left in this country has found ways to take the fun out.
The history channel used to have many gun related shows on the TV.
I almost never see NRA stickers or other gun related decals on rear windows of cars & trucks.
If i lived in another gun friendly state it would be different but i am still in CA.
Ten years ago i could go into a Big 5 and pick out a nice old millitary firearm and take it home in 10 days. Also i could trade or buy a old C&R on the spot private party. Ammo was not a problem and cheap.
that was what i enjoyed doing.
that train has left the station never to return. I still go out and shoot with my son in law a couple of times a year but i no longer buy or look at guns for sale.Comment
