Sell it and get something else, or keep it?

As a new firearms owner I've cycled through a few different handguns in the last year and a half. Started with a Beretta, then another Beretta, then a 1911, then an XD9, and now have added a few Glocks.

I've sold the 1911 and one of the Berettas, leaving me with the M9A1, the XD9 and the two Glock 17's. Love the Beretta, so that's not going anywhere. Since getting the Glocks I've really had little interest in the XD9.

The XD9 a fantastic firearm. I had a local gunsmith install Trijicon HD XR sights, replaced the firing pin roll pin, and I installed a Powder River trigger kit, have a Blade-Tech holster and mag pouch for it and something like 10 mags for it. Super smooth, super easy to shoot. Only put 50 rounds through it, but just prefer everything about the Glocks more.

Can't decide if I should just keep it as a loaner gun if anyone ever wants to come to classes with me and don't own their own firearm. Or I could sell it given it's in fantastic condition, and buy another Glock with the proceeds or toward a semi-auto 12g shotgun (already have a nice 590A1 pump). Also been wanting to get a revolver; maybe a S&W 686+...

    Decisions, decisions...

Sell it. Dont even think about it. Do it now before prices come back down and you wont be able to give it away. XD's are practically worthless in private party market. XDs are one of those guns where you dont have to second guess selling at all if the thought even crosses your mind just ditch it as fast as you can find a buyer and replace it with something you want.

I went through two XDs trying to like them. Just didnt care for them at all. Sold both of them and never regretted it.

You messed up selling the Beretta and not the XD. You're going to regret that mistake.

Never sell a Sig, HK, Beretta or a Glock unless you really really hate them. I sold an M9 and a Glock 23 about 5 years ago and I've regretted it ever since.

Use the money to buy ammo or a Glock 26. Or save up for a Sig or HK. Thats funny you sold the 1911, everyone should have a nice 1911.

I think you should sell the XD, too. Get another Glock! Maybe a 34 if you have 2 17s already, or a 19 if you want to try something other than a full size.

            Sell it.

Glock is easier to service and maintain.

Just don’t put it on the MP for $1200 like someone has; they barely sell at $600

XD9s can be had brand new at SW for $470 and consistently in stock. You can sell it, but likely will loose some $$. Since you already have Glocks, there is probably no reason to keep it. Similar category as the Glocks. I would say dump it and move on if you prefer Glocks. One type of platform to train and learn.

I got a 686+ Deluxe 6” with a woodgrip, mostly because I love the way it looks. Turned out to be a great shooter, and very accurate. The prices have gone up, but I still think the 686s are good value for what you get. You may even want to get a 358 lever as well then

What if it's being sold to acquire another Glock?!

That's fine, but go for another caliber Glock, say the 21 or 30. Or go wild and get a 32! The 34/35 are pretty sweet as well.

Keep it and buy another Glock..Don't sell guns unless you can't buy food for the kids.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Normally I would say to just put it away for a rainy day, since an XD generally has lower resale and isn’t as customizable as a Glock or as bougie as a SIG - but now would be as good as any to get a premium for it and invest is a REVOLVER!

I changed it a little while ago. Previously it was a picture of a lawn sign that said "Corn Pop 2020". Before that it was Col. Sanders stuffing a chicken leg in someone's mouth. Before that it was Rodney Dangerfield.

Sell it. No need to keep unwanted guns when someone else will enjoy it. Take the money and put it toward a quality AR.
