I bought 400 rounds of surplus 7.62x51 at $14 for a box of 20. The first time I’ve bought anything besides rimfire or 12 gauge in over a year.

9mm on Ammoseek regularly available for 45 cpr, another month or two without riots it should be down to 30-35 cpr.

Uhhh, or you legally could not buy guns and ammo in CA until this year. Lots of people in that boat who are the people who are going to keep the gun rights movement and hobby chugging.

I mean if you weren't legal age that is an unfortunate situation that truly sucks.

But if we are talking about a bunch of new gun owners that suddenly got scared by world events, when things go back to normal guns will be evil again and they will be back to supporting gun control and other BS and in the long run will only become part of the problem again. Somehow a lot of people don't understand their politics and voting is what got them here. Fair weather breads optimism and shades reality for some. Maybe the only good thing that will become of it is more used guns in the marketplace.

If your old like me and grew up in CA you understand how much oppression has been heaped on us over the decades and you don't forget. My youth was awesome, BB gun wars in the front yard and so many other things that would send a lib to tears, but guess what, (hardly) no one was offended and rarely did people get hurt, certainly no more than today. One person screaming about something couldn't change a law, everybody didn't get a trophy and we are better for it.

I seriously hope I'm wrong and people will remember how bad this is but optimism in CA is a tough road these days.

They did have a bunch of 5.56 at Bass Pro when i went there a couple weeks ago. It was $100 for 150 round white box range pack. Not amazing pricewise but they did have 100+ boxes of it there.

**** I know that now. After sandyhook I was like never again. Got my ffl03/coe and would just order a case wherever I felt stash was getting low.

I died a little inside paying $535 for 1k of 9mm the other day. I tried to make myself feel better by remembering the walmart clearance haul and averaging my cpr over time.

I disagree with this concept of telling anyone what they need.

I also feel it’s stupid to keep thousands of rounds per caliber. You better have it insured because it’s one wildfire away from being worthless.

One or two favorite calibers ok but beyond that depends on that persons needs/income level/ability to securely store it/etc.

What a dreamer. Big 5 has ammo now 22 lr 9 bucks for 50 .556 buck a round by the 150 box 2 bucks for win white box.n yeah lots more now.

Unless you are on fire or drowning, there's no such thing as "too much ammo".

Ask yourself if three months from now, something happened that precluded buying ammo the rest of your life.... would you weep and pull your hair? Or grit your teeth and say "that's not good, but I got what I should - while I could".

This pandemic and various shortages and empty shelves should have taught us all something.... if you wait to buy something until you need it, sometimes when you need it, it won't be available.

Get a good price, if you can... if you're running on empty, don't wait on price, get while it's available. There are a lot of people who dine out or order takeout several times a week... who are down to a couple of boxes or are completely out. These priorities... well, you tell me if they're squared away. I think I know what the consensus here would be. Buy groceries on sale, eat at home for a month or two if that's what it takes. Cut some subscriptions or other frills. If you're out of ammo your guns are useless. If your guns are useless, then your life and all that live under your roof are potentially relying on a police force for which we've listened to cries of defunding for the past year.

Please wake up and start seeing a bigger picture than just your front door, this week or this month.

Read "The Fourth Turning" if you want some relevant perspective on cycles of history. This isn't random and you don't need to be psychic to tell what comes next.

Get ammo... buy cheap (if you can) but stack deep regardless. Many here have been preaching this for years, based on previous experience. If you had the opportunity to buy a ticket aboard Noah's Ark a year before the rain came, but passed it up at $5 because the sun was bright and the day was warm, you'd be a fool... but the bigger fool is one who passed it up at $1,000 on the day when dark clouds loomed and the thunder boomed. Are you listening? Are those thunderclaps you hear in the distance? Do you risk making an expensive mistake into one beyond remedy?

Take stock. Get perspective. Act while that action is still an option.

Your window of opportunity may well be shrinking and the clock is ticking.

availability improving is great, but limiting the quantity purchased and having to to a background check every time sucks meatballs.
