I understand the frustration, but limiting the number of users in the market place, limits the pool of buyers, which will limit the price sellers would get, and would reduce the amount of listings and variety or availability of various guns. (Unintended consequences). Much easier to ignore or just laugh or curse at these foolish listings and move on.

      New(ish) guy here.

Not new to firearms as my father was a cop. But new(ish) to owning my own.

I've purchased 3 handguns and a bit of ammo through private party on this site. So that's been great. I paid a little above retail for the handguns, but not too much. I know I'll have to spend that to get what I want, but at the same time I was appalled at some of the prices, and ignored those adverts even if I wanted the gun. Good thing I read about the site etiquette or I might have posted some messages that would have gotten my hand slapped.

I'm a member of many other forums so I know to lurk a bit a get the lay of the land before jumping into the mix. Glad this site is here.

To a true gun enthusiast, Welcome!

As far as site etiquette, it's obviously not being enforced Getting stupid around here and time for some smack downs.

That’s your opinion.this might be a little rude but.... It’s really none of your business why someone wants x amount for their item. You’re not buying...so why is your opinion on a items worth the law of the land?

If a person wants $2000 for whatever for the item they are selling and someone is willing to pay that price...it’s none of your business. It’s a free market transaction. At any time either the buyer or seller can say no I want to pay x amount, or say I don’t want to pay that amount. If the item is too high priced it won’t sell. At that point the seller can leave it running, drop the price or keep it.

I never understood why people get so agitated over what someone wants for a item and they “call them out”. You don’t like the price hit the back button. It’s really that simple. Your opinion stops at my front door.

If I see a item that’s a price I’m not willing to pay I make a offer. I may ask if they are willing to negotiate or if there are multiple items I may ask if they’re willing to drop the price if I purchase multiple items. If the price is just in the stratosphere I hit the back button even more so if it’s written as firm and I look elsewhere. I have yet to not find the same item cheaper somewhere else. If I truly want something I have the money to buy it I just say I’ll take it and pay the person. But I would have to need it or want it fir a specific reason. Most gun sales are wants not needs. If you already have guns you don’t need a gun. You want a specific gun.

These high priced sellers are fishing for a person who is willing to pay their price. That’s between them and the buyer. These “overpriced “ items usually end up with countless bump, to the top, away we go, if it doesn’t sell it’s going back in the vault, bumps, last weekend at this price and so on subsequent posts under the main sale post. Again not my problem.

For the love of John Moses Browning, this is not a free market. If it was, you'd have private party transactions AZ style. No roster, AWB, BBAWB. This is an artificial market being inflated hy statist intrusion and regulation.

If CG is bad, eBay is worse. A while back, I listed a sub $300 used Chicom rifle scope. A prospective buyer asked me for proof that the scope tube wasn't opened up and switched out with inferior lenses. I replied and ask him if there is a DIY video on youtube. [emoji23]

I had 4 or 5 transactions last year and all were quick to respond and easy to deal with. The worst part is finding FFL willing to do a PPT and the wait.

If you list the guns at a lower than market rate people are much more eager to make it easier on the seller because they know other parties are ready to jump on the deal.

Not sure who is worse the new buyers or the jr member with less then 20 post. I have blocked about 20 people with more every week.

                      1. A new member demand I drive almost 3 hours one way to meet at his FFL that does PPt in 10 mins n low ball me.

                      2. New member wanted me to ship a rifle at my dime n ask for $300 off.

                      3. Jr Member wanted me to sell a gun to his friend but he wanted to be the middle man.

                      4. Jr member wanted to buy my firearm for sale but we had to use a FFL that would release to him when he got his undetermined.

I just block them all n share there phone number with other friends on here.

This has been going on inside California for decades brother. It’s not something new.

Everyone out of liberal California knows to never buy guns from that state. They are mutilated, butchered and ruined quite frankly and $3000 for a rifle that’s $800 in our state. Simply laughable.

Nobody here is being forced or coerced into making purchases. Participation is completely voluntary.

Would you prefer fixed market pricing?
It’s common courtesy. Don’t pass your bs mistake in overpaying to someone else.

I just paid $699 out the door for that exact gun. If you don’t like it tough. Grow up kid. Folks here are sick of liberal gun owners thinking they are in a unique position to charge 3 times what the gun is worth. Gtfo.

A lot of us out of state gun owners and former California guns owners speak the truth. We are trying to help new gun owners not pay stupid outrageous prices in the state of California and New York. Wake up people.

I could literally go onto the “for sale” forum here and shred each and every owner with facts, links to free state pricing and going rates in 49 other states to negate how they “feel” their gun is worth. But I won’t. We get banned for that.

We are all suppose to be on the same team, but unfortunately California gun owners are different than the rest of the 49 other states. They boast about a gun roster which mean absolutely nothing the second you step into another state. It’s what we all own already and they are cheap. Lol

                              $699

$1500 BNIB never fired made the last year they were imported.

Anybody that pays above list price for a firearm is insane. There's so much out there reasonable prices during normal times.
