Since there have been firearm and ammo confiscations in the past, it might be a good idea the know what you have should you be an unfortunate person to have this happen. It probably won't help getting it back but I doubt there will be an accurate count of rounds on the useless receipt you are handed.

As I mentioned above, I've keep track prior to PC spreadsheets using the same ledgers I used in business. For inventory, I also kept photographs for insurance purposes along with other household goods.

My Dad was an accountant, so I guess I got that record keeping from him.

Yes, keep inventory of rounds on a spreadsheet. Regularly shoot in USPSA matches and need to keep up on how my on-hand round count in order to know how many matches I can participate in.

            this

Got a paper book on how many fired that I started when I was 19 and I've copied it over a few times to the current book - wow - a lot of ammo.

Have an excel spreadsheet with a bunch, but I sure do wish it was a bunch more these days. Yes I've thought of selling at stupid prices but I haven't.

Yeah, I recently did a hard count, full inventory. I bought some ammo in October, but I don't really feel like I "need" more for a while

I really should get organized. I found dove shells with buckshot, 308 with 54r, 22lr in every box...

I walked away to save it for another day...6 months ago.

Years ago I was cleaning off shelves under my work bench and found a full case of .308.

                    That was a good day.

Counting is time consuming, it's easier to weigh it..

This.............. I bought 1000s of rds per day. I now have 100,000s of rds. I had a feeling a ammo shortage was coming. I'm set for life. I'll call it a lesson learned and a good investment.

I have at least 9 more rounds than Barney Fife has in his top pocket.

And yes, I have them all on a spreadsheet!

I drove my Sportsmobile van over the weekend out to Anza Borrego and found a WalMart 100 pack of 20 ga. stuffed under the seat along with 3 boxes of 12 ga.

With prices where they are today, it was like Christmas morning
