    Carry Rounds

What is everyone carrying for their CCW?

I finally broke the bank and picked up a box of G2 R.I.P for my H&K VP9SK for about $2.05/round and picked up some 10mm Lehigh Defense Xtreme Penetrator for my Glock 29 for $1.82/round. My lady has a mag of polymer tip Hornady's Critical Duty for her Walther PPQ.

I hate paying about $2 bucks a round, but that is the market right now. I was carrying some 9mm Freedom Munitions remanufactured HP until I bit the bullet and stepped it up with the G2.

I carry Ranger T in my .40 and my 9's because that is what my IA carrys. For my 10mm I either carry the Lehigh Defense or the Federal Hydra-Shok depending what is available when I need more.

I've noticed that a lot of the defense rounds are lighter in bullet grain weight than some of your standard FMJ range rounds. These 10mm's are 140 grain, where it seems a standard 10mm weight would be around 180. The 9mm G2s are 92 grain vs. a standard 115/124/147 grain.

I'm thinking the lighter bullet = higher velocity = better penetration ballistics.

My thinking may be wrong, but I would like a slower moving bullet for most defense situations because of what may be *behind* a potential target. I carry my H&K VP9SK mostly during the day and switch to the Glock 29 at night because I've got less to worry about behind my target at night when the walmart parking lot is less densely packed (bigger gun/bigger bullet/further it could travel after hitting a target, potentially into someone I don't intend to hit). Am I wrong on this thought process?

When I took my CCW class here in South Carolina, the LEO said we don't have what he called was the "OJ Simpson Doctrine" where if we are NOT criminally charged, we CANNOT still face a civil lawsuit, like in Cali. But like IraqVeteran8888 says on his videos, you OWN (are responsible for) every bullet you fire.

9mm +P+ Federal 115 Grain JHP 9BPLE if I am feeling nostalgic or 115 Grain Gold Dots.

Gold Dots or Hornidy's Critical Defense. And I consistently run rounds through my guns to verify they feed.

Ditch the gimmicky rounds...especially something labeled "R.I.P." An attorney will have a field day with that one after a shooting. Stick with well established defensive rounds that are regularly carried by law enforcement agencies. Do you know any agencies carrying that RIP round? Because there might be a reason for this.
