I'll be RSO tomorrow with a friend who is in his early eighties. He is a great resource, especially with reloading. We shoot trap as a group of RSO's, he shoots his 20 gage against a bank of 12's and outshoots us every time. He said he just wants it to be fair for us.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

You should have bought the old man his ammo. F*&$ the State of California.

The State of California does have case law addressing the OPs question.

In one of the Codes it specifies that the OG has not less than 10 to 15 years after he regularly forgets
        to zip-down
before his Right to purchase ammunition should be taken into Court for a review.

Kinda reminds me of the movie El Dorado and the story of the sawed off shotgun and how the gun keep aquired it.

If you can drive, you can shoot.

If you can still manage to get an erection, you can shoot.

If you still have a sex drive, you'll always have a "shoot" drive.

If you can read and write, you can shoot.

If you can do neither of these, it might be because you're in your death bed.

My dad's neighbor is about 80 years old. I saw him at a ccw requalification class recently. He only has one gun and never saw a reason to stock ammo. He used up his last rounds on requalifying. Talked to him a few days later. He was unable to buy ammo to replenish his stock, even with a valid ccw. I explained to him about going to CFARS and registering his gun. Apparently he tried that and couldn't get it to work. I offered to help but he says he's done. Not worth the trouble in his eyes. I guess you outgrow California's bullsheet before you outgrow guns. Sad to see law abiding folks so frustrated that they just walk away from it all, but I think that was the point.

I'd help him find that box he had stashed in his garage. So easy to forget you had one......

Basically politicians/lawmakers don’t care. There has been a spike in home invasions in San Francisco that have been targeting seniors. Not much mention on the news and I haven’t heard any politician even comment on it.

Just imagine your elderly neighbor shoots an intruder to save himself and his wife. During the investigation they’re going to ask him “you have no record of purchasing bullets, where did you get them”? You can feel good about helping your neighbor save his life, but now you’re going to be prosecuted by some anti-gun DA. Maybe the family of the home invader sues you for wrongful death as he was a loving father of 3 and was just about to get his life together.

I’m not berating you for your kindness, I’m just pointing out how stupid most of the gun/ammo laws are.
This is utter paranoia. Hundreds of millions of rounds of ammo were purchased prior to Prop 63 becoming law and there is no way to trace them (nor should any law agency waste the energy in trying).

                      No, you can’t.

My father turns 91 next week. He can't hold up a shotgun to shoot clay's anymore. He also mentioned to me that he will need to let go of his S&W 59 because it is too heavy. He got his CCW four years ago at 88 but I don't think he carries anymore because of he shaky hands. He still keep the P238 in the nightstand though.

Mt 26:51 one of the disciples had a sword in the garden at Jesus' arrest, Jesus told him to put it away when he used it but I haven't seen any where Jesus forbade him from bringing it with them.

I guess people interpret the bible to suit their needs...like holy rollers who ask for money because God said they needed a new jet.

I just remember the basics, like treating others as you want to be treated, don't lie, don't covet your neighbors wife, etc.

I see a lot of hypocrites these days.
