$75 to put sights on a Glock...

I did sights on one of my 17's. It was straight forward other than folding the oem rear sight with the pusher I used. My fault and lesson learned. I wasn't planing on using it, but would have been cool to keep in the parts bin. I plan on replacing a lot more sights on my own. I usually by guns with upgraded sights or pay for installs. After the G17, I will do all sight installs going forward.Comment

I actually did buy the gun with upgraded night sight. The problem is it was a purple label Glock which means it was a cost overrun Glock and it sat on the shelf for about 8 years before it got to me. The tritium in the night sights was really really dim so I contacted Glock and they shipped me out news sites.I did sights on one of my 17's. Glock sights are easy . Front sight uses a screw and is self explanatory. Most sights come with the needed tool
On the rear I lay a magazine " reading type" down on work bench use a Aluminum dowel and a Small rubber hammer. To tap the rear sight out and new one in . Use a digital caliper it measure center.Comment

I know and I have thought about that I just thought it would be like $10-15 and then if I needed them adjusted a little I could tap on it with a plastic dowel at the range. I know the Glock Store in San Diego does it for free(at least they do it for free if you go to their booth at a gun show regardless of where you bought the sites).Comment

Get a sight tool. It is cheaper.
There are many Youtube videos about changing the Glock sights. It is not difficult with the sight tool, at all.

Why would you modify the $250 slide, making it now a non-standard sized dovetail instead of filing the $50 site? I've installed hundreds of sites on Glocks, the slide dovetail is never the problem.
Fronts are usually easy.
Rear sight can require fitting, especially with night sights where you don't want to hit them too hard.
I picked up a barely used G27 for cheap, the previous owner could not get the rear night sight on more than about half way.
I had to hand file a deeper cut into the sight base dovetail to get it to fit.
Then I touched up the filed area with cold blue before doing the final install.
It's not always a five minute job.Comment

Trick for the rear sight. Before trying to slide it into place, coat both the sight and the groove it goes in with a thin layer of moly paste. What was once impossible is now doable.Let us not pray to be sheltered from dangers but to be fearless when facing them. - Rabindranath Tagore

I charge $30 if the sights simply push off and the new ones push on without needing hand fitting/filing/stoning/machining.I just got new sites for my Glock and called around to different gun stores around Los Angeles.
Most of the places I called didn’t answer the one that did called Modern Warriors Gunsmithing which wanted to charge me $75 to install the sights for my glock 22...
I mean I could buy my own sight pusher for that...
This can’t be the standard price…Right?Randall Rausch
