    Scar 17 Question

so I have a deposit on a Scar 17 California variant holding it for me, been wanting one really bad.......only the one I found is black and not the FDE I was hoping for.

I hear the Scar 17's are getting harder and harder to find regardless, let alone FDE, spoke to a dealer yesterday who buys direct from Scar or something....can you gun wizards or vendors confirm this?? is it bull**** or what? maybe only a dumb CA variant issue?

Should I just pull the trigger on the black to get the rifle......then cerakote as a last resort? I know this ****ing COVID isn't gonna help anything so

    Thanks

If you want the Cerakote to look remotely authentic, you'll need at least five shades of FDE.

          serious

I'm thinking maaaaaybe I'll just do the light tan camo spray for the stock then do the slightly darker sand color spray camo for the receiver.

leave the upper black then spray the picatinny rails FDE.....should look kinda dope if I get FDE scope and furniture.

Anyway. Excited, just a range toy for me in particular but should be fun

m1a, in a Sage stock, is next

What does a current California legal SCAR 17 look like now. I bought my SCAR 17 California legal back when only a bullet button was needed, that’s certainly not legal now.

I went featureless with it, fin grip, stationary buttstock, and changed the compensator. If anyone knows of a decent grip for the SCAR let me know, I made a cheapy AR one fit couldn’t find one for a SCAR.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

That seems like it might look cool.

I don't know where you live, or of your budget...but there is a SCAR 20 in FDE for sale at Highland Guns for the bargain price of $5500.

Almost everything is sold out right now due to the COVID-19 panic buyers. The panic buyers literally have set new record numbers on background checks done for gun buying.

Just hold out, COVID-19 craziness will eventually die down and things will go back to normal. Panic buys occur for whatever reason every so often (usually elections), you want to buy when supply is high and demand is low.

Get what you want, don't get something else and regret it down the line. You know you want that 50 shades of FDE, I know I did.

What buttstock solution did you use

The SI Megafin Featureless grip has been designed from inception specifically to provide an ergonomic solution to build a featureless AR.  Our especially designed grip texture ensures security when maneuvering while the contour fills the palm for comfort, and the built in finger bump provides both leverage and correct trigger finger placement.  Combine with a Strike Industries Strike Switch (sold separately) ambidextrous safety for a no compromise featureless AR build.    Package includes:- 1x SI Megafin Featureless Grip- 1x Grip Screw- 1x Grip Screw Washer   Features- Textured for sure grip- Conforms to DOJ criteria- Ergonomic non-pistol grip for AR   NOTE: This grip is made to conform to the DOJ criteria but has not been approved.  If grip is used in conjunction with other features on the CA DOJ banned features list, the host system no longer constitutes a “featureless” build.  Please consult your local laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

I experimented with this and took a Dremel to the inside to get a good fit against the stock Scar lower.

I was thinking of the 20s.........very cool, however I think I would want to shoulder it more than 50% of the time. I can always throw a bipod on it for bench shooting when I do that cause I'll just be doing 200 - 250 yds on the best day. mostly it'll be a very cool, blowing stuff up on BLM land gun

Parker Mountain modifies Magpul grips to work on SCAR lowers. Here's their list of stuff.

Can probably get a Kydex wrap around those, Solar Tactical makes wraps for certain grips, I recall a vendor on Calguns does as well.

Alternatively you can combine their machined Magpul MIAD with this "Exile Machine" (I'm pretty sure it's a 3D printed clone since Exile Machine is out of business) thumb shelfed fin backstrap on Amazon.

I have a PMM Magpul Miad with Exile Machine backfin on my SCAR 16 currently, swapping it out for a regular grip soon though since I got an Ironside Arms aluminum receiver, and one of the benefits of it is that they take AR-15 grips.

I went with this. Pricey, but I liked the look of the ACR-E stock. Pictures are a bit misleading because the CA compliant one doesn't fold or telescope once set.

The best SCAR stock IMO is the Masada.

Riflegear has 1 Scar20s FDE in stock in Fountain Valley. I am very happy with mine. Very accurate.
