how would a range even "check serial numbers"? That is not a thing even if they wanted to. At most, a range could see if you have something obviously illegal they would say you can't shoot it or ask you to leave. They don't want any liability. But they don't know if your rifle is registered as an AW or not. Or if you serial is registered etc. The only way you'd get in legal trouble is if you go to the range, and LEO happens to interact with you. That's a permanent risk if you own illegal things. The range has nothing to do with it.

Have you ever been to a range? I ask because just the process of checking in at any range & one can pretty much answer this.---------------------

If there ever was a place to avoid, that is certainly one. Nobody deserves that bad behavior from anyone, no matter who is doing it.If you take an non-features AR to Lytle Creek range (on BLM land), they will want to see the RAW paperwork and confirm the SN matches your paperwork. They are pretty good about it, but no paperwork, not allowed to shoot it. Only 10 round mags will be allowed too. But what really bugs me is i have been there when BLM will pull in and sit in their cars waiting for the range to go cold and shooters go out to change their targets, and the BLM will walk down the line and see what is on the benches. Once, the BLM picked up a rifle from the bench, while shooters are down range and the RO jumped all over the guys, and RO got into it with the BLM idiot. BLM said we can do what ever we want. No consideration of safety. The range has no control of the BLM people. I have been lucky to not have any rifle out on the bench that would cause BLM to take a second look. We do not like it, but a price to pay to be able to use this range.Comment

A gun range is not law enforcement, but its generally private property, and if they wanted to check or call the cops, they can
I never understood the mindset where people want to do shady things ( i dont care what anyone does in this regard and would never turn in anyone over this or any non safety issue) but then get irate when someone they dont control wants to cause them problems. You cant control what others do, and have only yourself to blame if you have problems.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. Seek out and find private property in which to use any such weapons on; you can avoid all the range nazis and fudders. Otherwise, you are at the whim of the range owner, if you go to a public venue. Ditto for public lands open to shooting; you never know who will be out there.Comment

People really need to define what they mean when they say “range”... because my range is open public land, yours may have range masters, air circulation systems and mall ninjas...Originally posted by ysr_racerPlease don't bring logic and reason into an interwebs discussion

Seems like a good idea! Where can I find useful information about private property tho? Thank you guys soo much for your replies! Seems that 80% lower is just not worth it anymore
When can we have our 2A rights back...

IMHO, at this point in time and current legislature we are incumbered under it is not worth it to deal with the 80% lower anymore. I got involved with the 80s and came to the conclusion it was a gratification thing at best, by the time you invested in tooling, blanks and everything you needed it just wasn't worth it economically speaking. However it was neat to do your own. On a realistic level, regardless the range considerations, what about to and fro from range and you get pulled over for a dead tail light.......? Every year when we hunt national forest for deer season DFG checks us, not for licenses and tags but run serial #s on our rifles, and in the group I hunt with there are alot of ARs because they make great platforms. I have since shipped all my 80s, blank and machined, tooling, jigs, ect. to my buddy in AZ, where hopefully I soon will be able to use them again. MarkOh no, not another 1911 !

Welcome to the shooting scene.
I am going to request something and I am just going to say it, but please know that I am saying it in a polite and very calm manner.
Please do not ever use the same coined terms that the idiot lawmakers that know absolutely nothing come up with.
I discredit them on every level I can until they can prove they have more than 2 brain cells.7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...
