More Bad News Ref Ammo Supply !

More Bad News Ref Ammo Supply

I, like many other CA gunners, was very disappointed when SGAmmo decided not to ship anymore to retail customers in CA. However when I was able to buy ammo from them, their prices & service were outstanding. Plus as you well know, they are in the top 5 of ammo distributors in the nation.

The below was posted on the today's front page of the SGAmmo's website.

"A lot has changed in the ammo business over the past 45 days as the Covid-19 outbreak created the largest rush to purchase ammo in all of history.

Supply has been badly diminished, and bottlenecks in manufacturing and distribution will continue cause shortages for months yet to come. From what I am seeing the worst is yet to come on ammunition availability which I believe will reach its worst in the next 30 to 90 days.

The buyer's market conditions which I have talked about in so many prior newsletters that brought ammo prices to 12 year lows in 2018, 2019 and early 2020 have passed.

I hope most people followed my advise in the past and stocked up while supply and prices were at their best. At this time supply has for the most part been bought up, most ammo factories and importers have done substantial price increases, and moving forward availability will be limited to what the factories can make and allocate to their distributors.

Covid-19 has caused some ammunition factories in Europe and Russia to close and / or reduce production, and most likely that will spill over here to some of the manufacturers in the USA at some point. I'd love to stay positive but realistically there are dark times ahead for the ammunition supply chain."

    Stay safe stay healthy.

He is a business man. His website always says "due to high demand blah blah blah" even during slow times 2018 etc. Ammo will come back and price will settle down. Don't believe the fear mongering business tactic.

You think he's wrong? 30-90 days from now won't be even worse regarding production and availability?

We all know supply will return to normal and prices will fall at some point but the question is when? I suspect he's correct that it's going to take quite bit of time.

It will take 2 to 3 years at best. If the economy does tank prices will not come back for a while

30 to 90 days from now most people will be too broke to buy ammo, bringing demand back down. Viola, problem solved!

I don't know guys. If Trump is re-elected then we might see things get good next spring. If not, it could be a while.

I personally believe by the winter of this year ammo will be back no problemo.

Worst of worst is Arsenal. Arsenal often says they no longer import guns blah blah blah last chance blah blah etc. Then, couple months later viola! guns come back.

Right now, if we saw a twenty round boxes of mil spec 5.56 selling for two dollars, and with free shipping
to Kalifornia, 99% of us would wait to order because tomorrow it might be a buck-fifty.

I took advantage of his decent prices over time and had a train-car of ammo, a lot of which was various blends of European stuff, delivered to Arizona, where it awaits in low-temp, protected storage. If I really need some over here, I can go and bring back 49 rounds per trip. Otherwise I can in the meantime reload as much as I want. I think it will eventually come back down, and if President Trump is re-elected (I'll be voting for him), things will get even better.
The fact that a lot of patriots have even a small amount of ammunition is sure to cause angst, grief, anger, and stress to more than a few democrats, and that in of itself is a good enough reason to acquire even more when this all settles.

Good thing I have a 5 year supply of ammo on hand with my usual shooting. How could anyone get caught short after everything that has happened Since the first Obama administration?

                          FIFY!

                          I started stockpiling in the summer of '92... when .223 & 7.62x39 Norinco was $.99/box o' 20.

I saw the same message from Sam. I always enjoyed his insights when he would post over in AR15. I don't believe he is trying to hype it up but just giving a heads up. I am sure we would be glad if everything returns to normal.

Looking at some of those prices already online, ouch.

Some people can reload just as long as they can get components to do that, I have been watching 2-3 places and what I am seeing is not good for some things. I wanted to order some jacketed bullets to load for one of my revolvers and none there. As a matter of fact scrolling through the different dia rifle and pistol bullet they were more than 50% out of stock. If in fact it is going to be some time until this stabilizes people might want to take inventory of what they need it might be pretty slim pickens in 30 more days. I did manage to get the 2 boxes of 185 gr .45 slugs I wanted ordered but from a outside source I rarely go to. Loaded ammo is entirely different, I'm glad I don't need any.
