I have known of some motorcycles being stolen rolled away very early in the morning unattended car break ins while out riding and some idiots not using backstops and almost killing people.
But ive never heard of an armed robbery and think even thieves with lower iqs would think twice about messing with a small group of blatantly heavily armed people.
Im currently repairing some target stands and am heading to blm land tommorow for some shooting.

          - im out here in the desert

          - don't come out here on BLM that's near houses and act stupid

          - respect the desert-people

          - the response time out here is 4-8 hours

          - so be respectful and you'll be OK

          - most people out here do NOT want idiots shooting on BLM land simply because most of them are idiots

          - even though there is wide open desert here I STILL shoot at a private range and NOT on my property even though 'nobody would know' -- because it's illegal

          - try a DESIGNATED blm shooting area

          - the key is to not disturb us...

          - the first thing out-of-towners do when they get up here is light fires, shoot guns, make noise, act-a-fool...

          - act the same way you do at home out here and you'll be fine

          .

Many years ago 5 of us were riding dirt bikes at Clear Creak (BLM).
We came across three 20 something year olds that were way off the main roads they were drunk and carrying rifles.
We stopped and talked them because one had cut his arm with a broken whisky bottle they had. That was an uneasy feeling being around them.
They did not want any help so we left.

The only other things I have seen while shooting at BLM spots near New Idra is people leaving their garbage .

Only problem I ever had was a cop from La Verne and his family met us at Jawbone canyon to shoot and brought the whole garage of bric brack and shot up lamps, glassware, etc and left . We did not shoot with them I was to pied off. And the cop brought an select fire ar15 that he got from armory. We wanted no part of that.

Good to hear from so many folks that are down on those that trash our shooting spots.

Some BLM rangers can get very officious looking over firearms and have caused a few humans grief.....

Let's remember that at a public range, things happen as well.

People act as if there is a RSO onsite and you paid to shoot, it's safe.

Couple of years ago, guy in a shooting competition was killed at Rahagues in Corona.

They closed some of their "improved" campgrounds. You will need to visit their website to see which ones. In my area, it's Afton, Sawtooth, and Owl Canyon. I think if it has a restroom, it's closed.

Thanks. Just want to find out if i can still go out and shoot in blm. On second thought, unless someone put giant boulder and block off the parking lot, i am going in.

bad things that can happen on/near BLM land

                              1) step in hole break ankle
                              2) snake bit!
                              3) eat a bad 711 hot dog
                              4) shoot your thumb off by accident (bad. don't do this)
                              5) lose your keys
                              6) fall asleep in a strangers van

                              This pretty much covers it

                                It can be

I always keep at least one loaded firearm ready when on BLM. It could be dangerous.

Rattle snakes, wild animals, methy people, drug Cartel marijuana grows, random criminals and the things they do are some examples.

Know if you have cell coverage, bring extra food and water and know how to change the flats you will probably get. Go early and find a spot off the main road that doesn't get a lot of traffic. Take a friend if you can, but I mostly just go on my own.

While bad things were few and far between, I have dealt with with them. Just be aware of your surroundings and know when to leave.
