No collection is complete without a nice centerfire bolt action rifle and a good scope.

If you buy a Mossberg shotgun, make sure you avoid the versions with the pinned forend.
Keep your eye on the used market, you can get the 500 "tactical" with factory ghost rings and same capacity as the 590 for a fraction of the cost.Comment

I've developed immunity to most of Sig's strains due to overexposure a few years back.
Their 220 X-Six, 220 Supermatch, and 226 X-Five were amazing guns that ran flawlessly. Their lower grade guns (a 938, a german made 220 Carry, & a 290RS were all absolute garbage of the highest order. FTE's, FTF's, slide not returning to battery, light primer strikes...etc.
The hit or miss nature of sigs coupled with the Sig 320 rollout disaster convinced me to get out of the platform and I sold all of them during my divorce. I really REALLY regret selling the high end pistols but that's life for ya!
I'm really tempted to get back into Sig these days but only their hammer fired, metal framed guns. Saw a deal last week for factory new 226 Nitrons for $557

Edit: having a real hard time resisting that buy it now and let the consequences be damned impulse lolUnless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Thought this was going to be a 1911 thread. But yeah, the 226 is one of my favorites.Comment

My general rule of thumb for sigs is if it has a rollpin in the slide I don't want it. New sigs don't hold a candle to older ones. My other gripe is their hard to shoot left handed. I practice weak side shooting and the decock lever is a pain to use left handed.Just a libertarian guy in a Leftist Authoritarian state.

The really older ones have the double rollpins, the slightly newer ones have a solid pin
Maybe you are thinking of the coil pin? I think they very new ones have a coil pin.
Here are some of my West German oldies - roll pins galore!

That P226-40 (FDE frame) is newer (but still old) has a solid pin. Interestingly the Mk25 which is much newer has a coil pin - maybe you are thinking of coil pins and not roll pins? My new P229ESE also has a coil pin.Last edited by SkyHawk; 03-04-2020, 10:03 PM.Comment
