    - see above
    - you live nowhere near coyotes

    - I live in the desert
    - coyotes are shy, they will NOT attack a human or a human walking a dog on a leash

Exactly, you are around WILD coyotes. The ones habituated to humans that don’t get shot at frequently are the dangerous ones. It’s just like when people start feeding bears. They lose their fear of humans and become a nuisance.

The ones 50 minutes out from my house that are hunted are wild skittish creatures. The ones by the houses where you can’t shoot don’t give a crap about people.

I don’t live near coyotes? See my dead yote hunting pic from last week. I’m not saying attacks are frequent but they will snatch a dog off the leash and don’t think would hesitate to attack a unattended child if they were hungry enough.

                  I may not fear coyotes,
But if they come on the property and molest the livestock, then they are dead yotes.

They are a problem on both my parents ranch in WY, as well as here in ABQ.
I don’t hunt them, but I have dispatched quite a few over the last 30 years or so.

Lately, the big problem are javelina. They are taken out quite a few at a time if possible.

There is a bit of an uproar up in MT and WY about the increase in wolf population.

I own a wolf, and would have no hesitation if they were on our land and went after any of our stock.

Whether or not Lobo is with me.

I do not plink either just for fun.

As coyotes lose their fear of people, they become bolder in approaching people and may put themselves in hazardous situations they would normally avoid.

Coyotes (Canis latrans) have expanded their range across much of North America and are now established in many metropolitan areas. Their presence in urban areas has often elicited concern from the public, although the actual risk that they pose to human populations is unclear. We conducted an analysis of coyote attacks on humans in the United States and Canada, including 142 reported incidents of coyote attacks resulting in 159 victims. Most attacks were classified as predatory (37%) or investigative (22%) in nature. The number of reported attacks was nearly equal between adults and children, although child victims were more (p < .001) prevalent in predatory attacks. Future coyote attacks could be reduced or prevented through modification of human behavior and public education designed to prevent the habituation of coyotes. A standardized reporting system for coyote attack incidents would be beneficial for further investigating characteristics of coyote attack incidents.

Feeding coyotes is not only illegal. It is stupid and reckless, when considering the safety of children in the area.

Nevada recognizes licenses from Arizona and Utah. So if you have CCW from these states (I have both), you can legally carry concealed in Nevada.

Add to the above that Nevada defines concealed as "concealed upon your person", which also means that you can carry a gun without a permit in your vehicle. Nevada considers your vehicle an extension of your home. You can carry it loaded and in your glove box, center console, or under the seat. you can LOC as well no permit required. As soon as you conceal it by placing it under your clothing in any way than you are concealing and must have a recognized permit to legally do so!

OP needs to research the laws in his specific AO because it could honestly go either way.

Pets are legally considered property, rather than life, in many places. In some places, there are specific laws/ordinances on the books that allow the use of deadly force to protect pets. But in many places, there aren't such laws, so you'd be effectively using deadly force to protect your property... which we all know tends to be illegal.

If you know what the specific situation is in OP's AO, I would actually be curious to see it.
