many "ordinances" that some counties/cities had were abolished a few years ago - in the State of Nevada all gun laws are the same across the board

what the Sheriff told you seems a little far fetched - what if you open carried a revolver? would the chamber aligned with the barrel have to be empty? the second you pull the trigger it would rotate to the next round anyway

      Yes you can.

Is open carry legal where I live or where I'm visiting?

Open carry is legal in every municipality of Nevada. The state legislature has prohibited cities and counties from passing their own regulations on firearms. City and county laws which prohibit carrying weapons are in violation of state law. No local laws or regulations may be more strict than state law. See: NRS 244.364 (county), NRS 268.418 (city), NRS 269.222 (town), NRS 407.0475(c) (state parks).
In a state where corruption abounds, laws must be very numerous.
      Publius Cornelius Scipio

Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.
      ― Thomas Jefferson

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

NRS does not look at loaded or un loaded with pistols. Stop spreading FUD take the time to read the laws...

The only time loaded comes into play is with a rifle or shotgun inside a vehicle.

A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you may never need one again.

Open carry is legal in Nevada.

However, it is not legal to carry on school property, college/university property, and in Gov owned/operated buildings.

In addition, the owner or the representative of private property can ask you to leave their property for any reason (this includes carrying a firearm).
Failure to comply with their request, can result in an arrest for trespassing and depending on your attitude with responding NV LEOs can also result in an arrest for public nusiance.

Yep, posted signs have no legal weight when posted at the entrance to private property.

Posted signs only have legal weight when posted on school property, on child care facility property, on college/university property, and at the entrance to Gov owned/operated buildings.

While in possession of firearms, BAC needs to be 0.08 or lower.

I would not use a .22lr pistol against a yote if I cared about my dog. Just carry a 9mm. I’ve had too many ground squirrels walk off a .22lr out of a rifle to trust it.

A CCW is very easy to get in NV. I had a non-resident CCW when I lived in Tahoe years ago. Why don’t you just get your CCW and not worry about it?

A couple more when the dogs where in there backyard. Last year a coyote chased a dog through a doggie door and the owner came home to find a bloody mess inside the house and her dog gone. Can I just carry a .22 on my hip? Anyone know what the penalty is for concealing a gun while walking your dog, without a ccw in Nv.

                          - coyotes are scared of everything including thier own shadow
                          - if you are walking your dog just chase the coyote away if it gets near your dog
                          - they are hella shy

You go right on believing that, but someone forgot to tell all the coyotes. They can be and are quite often are aggressive.

He should tell that to the kids and the parents of the kids down south, that have been bitten by coyotes.
