    A.L.I.C.E. Training

Not sure where to put this so here it is.

Has anyone here had this training?

What did you think of it?

Would you recommend it to others?

    Thanks for your input.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Only A.L.I.C.E. I know of is the US Military's All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment, which was replaced with MOLLE (MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) in the late-1990s.

My wife's school district is contemplating this but are having reservations after seeing the cost per percipient and reading the release of liability. Seems trainees could be, uuummmm, roughed up a tad. To a small school district, liability is a big thing.

ETA: Just found out my wife is going, no sure of time line. She was in the Corp (once a Marine, always a Marine), so right up her alley.

8.2 Assumption of Risks. Participation in the Course carries with it certain inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken to avoid injuries. The specific risks vary from one Course to another, but the risks range from (1) minor injuries such as scratches, bruises, and sprains (2) major injuries such as eye injury or loss of sight, joint or back injuries, heart attacks, and concussions to (3) catastrophic injuries including paralysis and death.

Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Escape.

Its a program developed for dealing with active shooters on school campuses, Cal State schools have the program and the campus police will do training presentations to faculty and staff on request. They put the basic tenets of the course up in every classroom on a sheet along with the usual "what to do in a fire/earthquake" etc.

I attended the presentation when I first on boarded, it's a good program for how to handle an active shooter, mostly things you might find to be common sense though. It was only about an hour IIRC

It's also aimed at churches. Our church is looking at possibly going but I was looking for some feedback on the course.

                    Thanks

I love those posters... especially the part where they tell you to play dead (as if the shooter will think "have I been here already?") and to hide behind something that will stop a bullet. I always told my students that my fat *** was the only thing in the room that would stop a bullet, and they were more then welcome to hide behind it.

I've written up my ongoing adventures as I learn to hunt.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

ALICE was specifically created for institutions in mind (businesses, schools...etc.). While there is good information for individual courses of action, they have an emphasis on group response to active threats. I don't know what the Cal State posters say, but I've never seen any ALICE material that advocates playing dead as part of the strategy.

It is possible I'm remembering a pre-ALICE poster, I haven't taught at the CSU in a couple years, and those posters change frequently.
